# Git commits, branches and sync (`work.git_workflow`)

Feedback Bench, coding agents, built 2026-10-01, window 2026-08-31 to 2026-09-27. Web page: https://feedbackbench.com/#/criterion/work.git_workflow

Area: [Doing the work](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/work.md)

**Definition.** How the agent handles commits, attribution, branches, pulls and pushes, and merge conflicts between concurrent agents or teammates.

**Boundary.** Not this: see [Risky or irreversible actions without confirmation](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/work.destructive_actions.md) for data-destroying git commands.

Rated author-weeks, all agents: 282. Complaint share: 64%.

## The brief

Written by Claude Opus 5.5 from 57 labelled posts and the numbers on this page. Interpretation, not measurement: every quote is verbatim and links to its post.

**Agents write commits well; credit lines and branch sprawl draw fire.**

TL;DR:

- Handing off commit messages and pushes is the most praised git behaviour across agents.
- Unrequested co-author lines are the loudest complaint, and users write hooks to strip them.
- Worktrees top the request list, yet current versions draw reports of hangs and silent switches.

In plain terms: Handing an agent the commit-and-push chore mostly works. The friction comes after that. Users report credit lines they did not ask for, cloud agents opening extra PRs, worktrees that hang or diverge silently, and usage burned on git busywork.

### How it breaks

- **Co-author lines nobody asked for** ([Git commits, branches and sync](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/work.git_workflow.md)). Agents append co-author trailers and session links to commits and PR text, and many users treat removing them as a recurring chore.
Claude Code users say the attribution setting and its defaults keep shifting. Some scrub trailers from history after the fact. Others install commit-msg hooks that strip them no matter which harness wrote the commit. Cursor users find a model credited in a PR description they only asked it to draft. A Devin user calls the self-insertion shady. A minority defends disclosure as fair. Making attribution optional is among the most requested changes on this page, driven mostly by Claude Code users.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Cursor, @cursor_ai, 2026-09-23: “funny when you ask @claudeai or @cursor_ai to write a commit message for you and it sets itself as co-author. come on, you just wrote the comment, not the entire code 😄” [source](https://twitter.com/36800978/status/2102678917727539499)
 - Complaint, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-05: “i think it'll be difficult to prevent this commit pollution if anthropic keeps changing the setting and defaults. a couple options that i can think of that should be reliable, unless they decide to get rid of hooks: 1. scrub it from history as soon as you notice it (this example scans the last 5 commits): `git filter-repo --message-callback ' import re msg = re.sub(r"(?m)^co-authored-by: claude.*$\n?", "", message.decode("utf-8")) msg = re.sub(r"(?m)^claude-session:.*$\n?", "", msg) return msg.encode("utf-8") ' --refs head~5..head --force` 2. add a `commit-msg` hook to strip the attribution, matching on a regex. here's a plugin that does this as well as guards against a number of ways to circumvent it using a `pretooluse` check: [<strict_link>” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w6yw16/claude_code_v21259_forces_coauthoredby/p7w3uj8/)
 - Complaint, Cursor, r/cursor, 2026-09-09: “i was using cursor to generate a pr description, and everything looked fine. then i noticed this got added at the bottom: `co-authored-by: claude opus 5 <<email_address>>`” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1wbp3cp/generated_a_pr_description_with_curso_and_it_gave/)
 - Complaint, Devin, @cognition, 2026-09-15: “@cognition why does devin try and inject itself into every single git commit i make through it. its so annoying and shady.” [source](https://twitter.com/2093566660145733632/status/2099996752233242817)

- **Remote agents breed branches and PRs** ([Git commits, branches and sync](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/work.git_workflow.md)). Cloud and background agents open a new PR or branch for each change, so users come back to a pile of linked PRs they then have to reconcile.
Cursor cloud agent users report that every edit to an existing branch spawns another PR. One user moved the branch to a different agent to repair the damage. Others describe returning to six branches and four PRs. A Claude Code user saw the agent switch to one commit per PR for a morning, which produced a burst of merges. Users ask for branch control and a fresh main for cloud agents.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Cursor, @cursor_ai, 2026-09-17: “@flowritescode @cursor_ai remote coding agents are great until you come back to six branches and four prs” [source](https://twitter.com/1499064076374536193/status/2100603936252027007)
 - Complaint, Cursor, @cursor_ai, 2026-09-06: “been trying to get @cursor_ai cloud agents setup, and literally every time it makes a change to an existing branch it makes a new pr. i have 4 linked prs now. i've had to move the branch over to claude to fix what it breaks.. and i'm losing count of how many prs cursor unnecessarily makes..” [source](https://twitter.com/13799152/status/2096725586483839201)
 - Complaint, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-11: “yeah, it was making a branch, then dropping a commit and then a pr the branch-to-pr is normal behaviour, but the single-commit was very odd; it suddenly stopped the behaviour in the afternoon (i'm in uk) and all is back to normal after merging in 26 prs this morning we are back to about 5 or 6 in the afternoon 😥” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wdc65g/changing_claudes_pr_creation_behavior/p96wjhr/)

- **Worktrees wanted, worktrees brittle** ([Git commits, branches and sync](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/work.git_workflow.md)). Worktree isolation is the top request, but users report the existing versions hanging, switching silently mid-session, or living outside git where standard clients cannot see them.
A Codex user found the agent had moved into a new worktree partway through a conversation without saying it would stop syncing. Cursor users on large repos call worktrees slow and prone to hangs. Zed's Delta uses a proprietary worktree scheme that ordinary git clients cannot see, which complicates local merges. A Conductor user found one worktree per thread cumbersome. OpenCode users simply ask for worktrees at all.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-21: “ok, but codex never told me "im working in a new worktree and i won't sync" the weirdest thing is that it started in the middle of conversation. few prev messages / changes were done in the main repo.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wm4yxd/codexsol_burning_tokens_trying_to_fix_bug_in_a/pb46097/)
 - Complaint, Cursor, r/cursor, 2026-09-26: “i just switch to cursor recently, the usage is probably similiar or better, but for the repository i'm working on (it's a fairly large one), worktree is pretty slow and buggy, and often hangs for no reason😅” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1wptv9n/thinking_of_switching_from_codex_to_cursor/pc452af/)
 - Complaint, Zed, @zeddotdev, 2026-09-12: “i really wanted to like delta, but they’ve introduced a proprietary worktrees implementation that is not based on git, which means if you use a git client, they’ll be blind to those worktrees. you can have two main checkouts, which kind of works like cloud agents, but it also makes merging locally not that easy. so they’re not the easiest to work with right now. fable can kinda figure out how to work with delta worktrees but the harness doesn’t provide built-in skills or tools right off the bat (or at least it didn’t seem that way), so even though it’s proprietary, it’s not as magical as it should be. zed is an amazing editor though! so nice to have an editor that works as an editor.” [source](https://twitter.com/19578550/status/2098621501352341818)
 - Complaint, OpenCode, @opencode, 2026-09-05: “@opencode why don’t you add first-class worktree support? almost any cli has it.” [source](https://twitter.com/229370939/status/2096330790669861152)

- **Git busywork that burns usage** ([Git commits, branches and sync](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/work.git_workflow.md)). Agents over-run git status and log, choose interactive modes, and checkpoint every turn, which spends quota and clutters history without moving the work forward.
Antigravity users write rules telling the agent to stop checking file history several times before a small edit. A Codex user watched a large slice of weekly usage drain in minutes while the agent drove git's interactive mode. The same job finished cheaply once the agent switched to applying patches directly. Pi users warn that checkpointing every turn records the conversation instead of reviewable changes. Broken git index errors also recur for Antigravity and Cline users.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Google Antigravity, r/GoogleAntigravityIDE, 2026-09-21: “i would add another rule under git "do not use git status or git log unless really required." for some reason, even before making a small change, it checks a files history like 3-10 times. even for simple requests.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleAntigravityIDE/comments/1wl9m6u/my_rules_for_ag/pb4lxgm/)
 - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-27: “i asked codex (sol-high) to break up my unstaged changes into 3 smaller commits. the agent decided to do this via git's interactive mode. i then watched about 7% of my weekly usage (plus plan) drain away in 3 minutes before i stopped it. in that time, it only got through about 15% of the diff. i complained about this to the model, and it switched strategies to scanning the diff itself and creating patches to apply. this method only used 1% of my weekly usage to finish the job. so my agents files now have a rule banning use of any git interactive mode.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wrvjsv/pro_tip_dont_let_codex_do_interactive_git_commits/)
 - Complaint, Pi, @pidotdev, 2026-09-06: “@pidotdev the missing piece is log hygiene. checkpointing before every turn needs a cleanup policy, or git starts recording the conversation instead of code changes worth reviewing.” [source](https://twitter.com/1549055479875342336/status/2096465891428807071)
 - Complaint, Google Antigravity, r/google_antigravity, 2026-09-08: “same here... i even created a .bat file to fix the git index 😶 because it happens every time” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1wau0ea/how_to_make_file_changes_auto_accept_all/p8kv8gk/)

- **Commit and push chores pay off** ([Git commits, branches and sync](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/work.git_workflow.md)). Asking the agent to write the message, commit, push, or split a PR is the most consistently praised git behaviour across agents.
Users like skipping commit-message writing entirely. Claude Code users credit clean commits and stashes on timeout with saving cleanup when they resume a session. Some let the agent open PRs and trigger deploys for small fixes because it is faster than clicking through UIs. A Devin user had a large PR split into eight with no manual work. Frequent commits also act as a rollback net when a session goes off course.
 Evidence:
 - Praise, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-18: “"commit and push changes" - just so i don't have to write the commit message.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wjt7v5/whats_the_smallest_task_youll_open_codex_for/pal99tc/)
 - Praise, Claude Code, @ClaudeDevs, 2026-09-25: “@claudedevs letting the agent write a clean git commit or save a stash on timeout saves hours of manual cleanup when you pick the session back up” [source](https://twitter.com/819433566924722176/status/2103582413758824915)
 - Praise, Devin, @DevinAI, 2026-09-21: “pr was too big so i just made @devinai split it. 8 prs, 112 commands i did nothing” [source](https://twitter.com/1082703998161965057/status/2102072295413944480)
 - Praise, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-22: “but what do you mean? we have ci/cd, and for some simple things like a quick fix that it found on a yaml (eg: k8s crd) i do let it open the pr and deploy or sync argo. edit: it’s way faster than me going through uis and it doesn’t use much tokens.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wmx1zd/do_you_let_claude_code_handle_git_builds_and/pbahlau/)

### Who stands out

- **Claude Code (mixed)**. It draws the most git praise for commits, stashes and PR handling, and also the most anger over attribution trailers it keeps adding.
Users credit Claude Code with clean commits, stash-on-timeout, and PRs opened for small fixes. The complaint pile centres on co-authored-by and session-link trailers. Users say defaults and setting names keep changing, so they fall back on config overrides, history rewrites and commit-msg hooks. Experienced users also advise committing to a work branch after each step instead of trusting wrap-up.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-05: ““attribution”: { “commit”:””, “pr”:”” } that’s it. it’s been this way for 8 months” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w7o4gt/welp/p7wzlvw/)
 - Complaint, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-04: “if the question is "why one would want these two lines gone?": 1. "co-authored-by" is noisy and unnecessary. i don't want to list claude code in all my commits, just like i don't want to write intellij idea, warp, etc. in there. it's irrelevant to the commit because 99% of my commits are made by claude, and the few that are not, anyone can recognize from the length/style. 2. "claude-session", well, if i knew that anthropic can't (technically and legally) access my sessions (now connected to commits) then i'd actually be useful to have that backlink. but as i don't know, it feels uncomfortable to have that link there. i keep my code public (mostly [<strict_link>), but the sessions feel more personal to me. 🤷♂️” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w6yw16/claude_code_v21259_forces_coauthoredby/p7rl31f/)
 - Complaint, Claude Code, @ClaudeDevs, 2026-09-26: “@claudedevs good change. still worth one habit on long runs: have the agent commit to a work branch after each step. wrap-up is best effort. a git checkpoint is not, and a half-finished refactor is then one reset away from clean.” [source](https://twitter.com/2099523918004654080/status/2103881276810047943)

- **Cursor (weaker)**. Cloud agents that multiply PRs and worktrees that hang on large repos weigh down a tool some users still call smart about parallel commits.
Users report Cursor cloud agents opening a fresh PR for each change to an existing branch. Worktrees on big repositories are described as slow and buggy. Model co-author lines also show up in generated PR descriptions. On the plus side, one user says Cursor tracks exactly what it changed when several agents commit to the same branch. Another likes its push-triggered routines.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Cursor, @cursor_ai, 2026-09-06: “been trying to get @cursor_ai cloud agents setup, and literally every time it makes a change to an existing branch it makes a new pr. i have 4 linked prs now. i've had to move the branch over to claude to fix what it breaks.. and i'm losing count of how many prs cursor unnecessarily makes..” [source](https://twitter.com/13799152/status/2096725586483839201)
 - Praise, Cursor, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-09: “thanks for the advice. i would try the way. cursor is very smart about parallel work and treating commits in the same branch. it knows exactly what it changed. as a cursor user, i would suggest this to the claude code team.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wbbac8/one_thing_i_found_cursor_is_smarter_than_claude/p8p68fu/)

- **OpenAI Codex (mixed)**. Branch-per-agent parallel work and worktree lifecycle get praise, while sandbox git blocks and costly interactive git runs draw complaints.
Users say telling Codex agents to take their own branches lets them edit the same files and merge back cleanly. Worktree handling from ticket to cleanup is called good. Complaints cover a sandbox mode that blocks git operations, a silent switch into a new worktree, and quota burned by interactive rebase-style flows. Some users still prefer a plain 'please push for me' over agent-driven rebases.
 Evidence:
 - Praise, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-26: “i just tell them to make their own branch and then they can work on the same files at the same time. haven't ever had them fail to merge the code back.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wnnv36/plus_users_hows_your_experience_so_far/pc8u6kl/)
 - Praise, OpenAI Codex, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app, 2026-09-06: “@yulin807 @orca_build just happened to use it all day today, there are still bugs, for example, it will inexplicably resume copying agents after disconnection. the advantages are: 【1】 good support for worktree. from accepting issues/tickets to creating worktree, and finally cleaning up the worktree after completion, it is quite good. 【2】 parts like code diff that still require human involvement are okay. it can serve as the third main force (the first is codex app, the second is herdr).” [source](https://twitter.com/2640321013/status/2096569643641241785)
 - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app, 2026-09-18: “@thsottiaux when i was delegated to the luna reserve usage, the sandbox does not allow git operations, making it super tough to use. and also would love to see "autofix ci & comments" option in the @chatgpt codex app. that would really be a claude code killer” [source](https://twitter.com/1027581358217080833/status/2100890296964026622)

- **Conductor (stronger)**. Its few posts lean positive, praising a steady root branch and local sync that stops the user from becoming the merge tool.
Users like keeping the root branch stable while several features run in parallel. Local sync across machines is singled out as the missing piece in other multi-agent setups. The one complaint calls one worktree per thread too rigid for local development. The sample is small.
 Evidence:
 - Praise, Conductor, @conductor_build, 2026-09-13: “@euboid @conductor_build local sync was the part i was missing. every multi-agent setup i tried looked fine until two agents edited the same files on different machines and i became the merge tool.” [source](https://twitter.com/2069788300777340928/status/2099061670119428545)
 - Praise, Conductor, @conductor_build, 2026-09-04: “@tonyroslund @conductor_build keeping the root branch steady while juggling features sounds so useful.” [source](https://twitter.com/170405069/status/2095868543048753548)
 - Complaint, Conductor, @conductor_build, 2026-09-03: “@welson @claudeai @t3dotcodes @conductor_build worktree per thread was cumbersome, and i kept running into issues with my local dev with it. so far only cmux feels right for me - has enough flexibility where i can create worktrees when i want to. i wish i had the flexibility of cmux plus a rich text editor interface..” [source](https://twitter.com/3069491263/status/2095623521062064432)

### Fine print

- Most agents here have too few posts to separate from the field. Only Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and Cursor have typical volume.
- Data-destroying git commands are scored under a separate criterion. Complaints about lost work appear here only incidentally.

## Top requests

What users ask to add or change, most asked first. 94 author-weeks ask for something. Requests do not change the Feedback Score. Rule: A separate pass by Claude Sonnet 5 reads every counted post and extracts what the author asks the agent or its vendor to add or change, with the criteria it maps to and a short normalised wording; it does not touch the labels or the Feedback Score. Claude Opus 5.5 groups the wordings within each criterion (the first criterion the request maps to) into themes; code counts them. A theme counts distinct author-weeks that ask for it, per agent; across agents, one author-week per agent. Themes asked in fewer than 2 author-weeks, and requests that share no theme, are not shown. Examples: up to 3 posts per theme from different authors, without slurs, preferring posts of 60 to 450 characters, most recent first.

### 1. First-class git worktree support

- Google Antigravity, 2026-09-22, @antigravity (X): “@rodydavis @antigravity add worktree support for antigravity cli” [source](https://twitter.com/2044713468931031040/status/2102287154210799831)
- OpenCode, 2026-09-18, r/opencodeCLI (Reddit): “nah you're valid on worktrees. i use branches offen, but worktrees make me hurt solely because they solely care about what's in git. you have to symbolic link gitignored artefacts that you still need to develop but can't push to a remote git origin. it's just annoying. if there was a "symbolic link toggle" that just let me pick what is synced when i spawn em i'd like them more.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencodeCLI/comments/1wjixz4/new_btw_command_is_coming_in_the_new_version_of/paj3zdo/)
- Cursor, 2026-09-17, @cursor_ai (X): “the year is 2027, @cursor_ai still hasn't added right click > fork as worktree” [source](https://twitter.com/1590000367131033602/status/2100377644806144495)

### 2. Optional or removed AI commit attribution

- Amp, 2026-09-20, @AmpCode (X): “@ampcode @vercel (this is so you don't have to pay for a vercel seat for "amp <<email_address>>". if you had amp commit as you and not under its own name, then this was never a problem.)” [source](https://twitter.com/784008/status/2101629533300613604)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-16, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “i did a small commit on my thesis project (just updating dates) and i tell claude to make the commit then i checked the repo and claude appears as contributor... wtf ??? i did everything(it's my thesis from 2018) and the funniest thing is that i cannot remove it from contributor... i already force push by deleting claude commit but the contributor badge is still there... its a joke? <strict_link>” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1whopwl/remove_claude_from_github_contributors/)

### 3. Full-featured integrated git panel

- Google Antigravity, 2026-09-25, r/google_antigravity (Reddit): “ide with ai agents. the ability to have a cleaner source control panel that i can control is very important to me. agy 2.0 has some git actions available, but it's not very pleasant to use and not clean at all. also, being able to manually review and edit files in an ide makes the experience much better. even if i use a cli, i will keep the ide open.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1wp6mpo/poll_how_do_you_code_in_late_2026/pbw17go/)
- Zed, 2026-09-25, @zeddotdev (X): “@zeddotdev its the best editor, but git is really unusable. your number one issue on github, please look into git, we cannot use an editor without reliable git in 2026.” [source](https://twitter.com/628739558/status/2103429049951613122)
- Zed, 2026-09-23, r/ZedEditor (Reddit): “coming from jetbrains ide, what i miss most is how well jetbrains has integrated git workflows and ui elements around the ide. from their drop down options for merging and comparing branches and files to their styling of showing git logs and multiple branches. really feels well polished and something i dearly miss every time i switch out of their ide, be it vs code or zed” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZedEditor/comments/1wo7jua/what_do_you_think_is_missing_in_zed_editor/pbl1day/)

### 4. Manage and merge PRs from the interface

- Claude Code, 2026-09-22, r/google_antigravity (Reddit): “one thing i really miss inside agy is auto-pr monitoring (option), similar to claude code.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1wn2nky/agy_pr_monitoring_autorespond_to_pr_comments/)
- Cursor, 2026-09-16, @cursor_ai (X): “started using cursor's codebase as my main git interface for pr reviews but, there's no way i could find to mark a pr ready on the interface. maybe @cursor_ai team can help. <strict_link>” [source](https://twitter.com/1508512150519640065/status/2100148747225460801)
- Amp, 2026-09-03, @AmpCode (X): “great product @ampcode & @thorstenball! it would be great to have a way to manage github prs directly from the ui, for example to squash and merge them. it would also be nice to have a dedicated button in the ui to access the pr. or am i missing something?” [source](https://twitter.com/22273057/status/2095434738190192805)

### 5. Attribution of changes to specific agents

- Cursor, 2026-09-21, @cursor_ai (X): “@sachinjain024 @cursor_ai small workflow features like this are great harness hooks: capture the command, the transformed request, and the resulting state so agent-assisted changes stay auditable.” [source](https://twitter.com/1870072035608584192/status/2102084609877885325)
- Amp, 2026-09-20, @AmpCode (X): “the exemption addressed by @sqs @ampcode @vercel solves collaboration friction, but companies still need to look at submission identity mapping and auditing: the deployment pushed by the agent must be traceable to the person, task, and specific diff.” [source](https://twitter.com/1819537097528950784/status/2101693859256553786)
- Cursor, 2026-09-19, @cursor_ai (X): “@cursor_ai i understand the convenience of automatically tracking pr and slack, but once the agent can automatically fix ci, the responsibility for review becomes even more important. every change it submits should make it clear at a glance "why it was changed."” [source](https://twitter.com/2259799350/status/2101375580432183615)

### 6. Jujutsu (jj) version control support

- Zed, 2026-09-18, r/ZedEditor (Reddit): “i keep reading you can use it on the web, but can’t find any links to access it, how do you do so? a few requests: \- a custom url openai provider \- base the jj implementation on worktrees instead of copies please!” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZedEditor/comments/1whydrw/delta_in_public_beta/panpthq/)

### 7. Commit button and in-app committing

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-25, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app (X): “since the button to commit nicely from the codex app has disappeared, we can only instruct humans to "push it nicely" with heartfelt feelings...” [source](https://twitter.com/38659716/status/2103329359612592397)
- Zed, 2026-09-22, @zeddotdev (X): “@zeddotdev i love delta, but for the life of me committing changes without opening a terminal seems impossible. i saw there was a new "land changes" button but this just invokes an llm?” [source](https://twitter.com/1676011773810360320/status/2102493282215539022)

### 8. Configurable base branch for diffs and PRs

- Amp, 2026-09-22, @AmpCode (X): “@ampcode also, a better way to set the base branch (to compare git changes) would be nice... in our flow, hotfixes branch out and go back to master, we also have a release staging branch too...” [source](https://twitter.com/2062509956574650368/status/2102451017849737447)
- OpenCode, 2026-09-10, @opencode (X): “finally gave a serious try to @opencode for personal project and suddenly missed the following ( compared to @githubcopilot cli ) message steering, branch /diff ( from main even after pushing ), /btw , ctrl+c protection, plan however still impressed with tui, free zen models” [source](https://twitter.com/15468471/status/2098084461204390142)
- Cursor, 2026-09-08, r/cursor (Reddit): “i'd like to change it to any other branch. i never work with main so it is currently useless this functionality even tho it's a powerfull tool” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1waoikq/is_there_a_way_to_change_main_on_the_review/)

### 9. Worktree and session management with PR status

- Cursor, 2026-09-27, @cursor_ai (X): “@cjbell_ @cursor_ai agent branch commits hidden till pr is frustrating, i've hit that markdown plan viewer shuffle too” [source](https://twitter.com/184674873/status/2104338238085509151)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-23, r/codex (Reddit): “there used to be information on - which branch i'm in, if i'm in a worktree or locally - options to commit, push, create pr this was literally some of the best features in codex....please don't tell me they removed this?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wnzsqv/newest_update_removed_git_options_and_information/pbiy18h/)
- Zed, 2026-09-19, r/ZedEditor (Reddit): “i'd like a simple workflow where i could easily manage worktrees, sessions within the worktree and easily see which sessions have open and closed prs.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZedEditor/comments/1wjp5nq/popular_zed_fork_where_the_community_is_more/paq2afp/)

### 10. Cloud agents branch control and fresh main

- Cursor, 2026-09-24, @cursor_ai (X): “it would be nice if @cursor_ai cloud agents always pulled the latest changes from the main/master branch before starting work. they don’t always do it seems, unnecessarily resulting in merge conflicts sometimes” [source](https://twitter.com/135456025/status/2103003867885756516)
- Cursor, 2026-09-14, @cursor_ai (X): “love the projects feature from @cursor_ai. it just makes sense. few things [slightly unrelated]: - maybe subscriptions can be deleted on merged prs - auto pull main branch on a successful merge would be cool - control + ` opens new terminal every time <strict_link>” [source](https://twitter.com/1188621289273069569/status/2099536152965566788)
- Amp, 2026-09-04, @AmpCode (X): “two requests for @ampcode that i keep hitting: 1. more control over what branch the orb grabs. default on gh limits exploratory and throwaway branches that might need multiple rounds 2. if orb runs out of memory a button to auto upgrade the orb to the next size up would be nice” [source](https://twitter.com/1677262563992543235/status/2095909473759920135)

### 11. Concurrent agent commit tracking and integration

- Zed, 2026-09-25, @zeddotdev (X): “@bradgessler @zeddotdev i split the suite in my harness after `mcp__workspace__write` returned 200 but the editor still showed old bytes after 2 retries and 11s. do you keep git and agent state in one receipt or separate them?” [source](https://twitter.com/1835841692852682752/status/2103323881117307218)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-09, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “thanks for the advice. i would try the way. cursor is very smart about parallel work and treating commits in the same branch. it knows exactly what it changed. as a cursor user, i would suggest this to the claude code team.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wbbac8/one_thing_i_found_cursor_is_smarter_than_claude/p8p68fu/)
- Amp, 2026-09-08, @AmpCode (X): “i wonder how @ampcode people work with git and branches and integration... i almost always want agents to just continuously unpromptedly integrate work but default workflow leaves work uncommitted and unmerged” [source](https://twitter.com/3331714493/status/2097299648972980374)

### 12. Git operations in restricted or sandboxed modes

- Cursor, 2026-09-26, @cursor_ai (X): “i swear to god, vol1231 we can't commit + push when the token runs out. how can this waste a token when you need to commit at the end of your work? solve this issue @claudedevs @openaidevs @cursor_ai <strict_link>” [source](https://twitter.com/1646422045842890755/status/2103836099957207073)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-18, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app (X): “@thsottiaux when i was delegated to the luna reserve usage, the sandbox does not allow git operations, making it super tough to use. and also would love to see "autofix ci & comments" option in the @chatgpt codex app. that would really be a claude code killer” [source](https://twitter.com/1027581358217080833/status/2100890296964026622)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-21, r/codex (Reddit): “i’m trying to work out whether anyone has found a clean solution for authenticated git/github access from inside the native codex windows sandbox. outside codex, everything works normally: * git installed correctly * git credential manager works * github authentication works * `git fetch`, `pull`, `push`, etc. work from normal powershell inside codex, commands run under the separate `codexsandboxoffline` windows security context. that environment” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wlykc0/codex_windows_sandbox_cant_access_github/)

### Claude Code

- Praise, 2026-09-27, r/ClaudeAI (Reddit): “your usage problem is probably task 3, and the fix there isn't a different model, it's not having the top model read all 100–200 sources. **split "deciding what to read" from "reading and writing".** asking the best model to pick the best 25 out of 200 is expensive, and llms also cut corners: ask for 25 and they tend to stop around 20. what's worked better for me is a cheap judging step first. each source (title + abstract) gets scored on its own” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1wrh74k/which_model_for_basic_website_maintenance/pccen63/)
- Praise, 2026-09-27, r/ClaudeAI (Reddit): “for file-based work like yours (worldbuilding docs, foundry modules), i'd say claude code + git is simply better. everything is plain files you own, every change is a diff you can undo, and you can grep your own lore. i do almost everything that way. the cases where i still reach for the web/app: - **away from the machine.** phone, someone else's computer. you can also drive a running claude code session from claude.ai/code (remote control), so e” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1wrh7d0/is_there_genuinely_any_reason_to_utilize_claude/pccf0xr/)
- Praise, 2026-09-26, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “being solo dev makes it easier for me. i have no merge conflicts. but if i have task, and someone interrupt me with something else important, i just work in a separate work tree. i explicitly say, when definiting the task that there is one more going on and merge conflicts are possible. the ai keeps that in mind and checks for possible conflicts and how to resolve them.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wq80vn/anyone_running_a_mostly_fully_agentic_engineering/pc7kyb3/)

- Complaint, 2026-09-26, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs good change. still worth one habit on long runs: have the agent commit to a work branch after each step. wrap-up is best effort. a git checkpoint is not, and a half-finished refactor is then one reset away from clean.” [source](https://twitter.com/2099523918004654080/status/2103881276810047943)

### OpenAI Codex

- Praise, 2026-09-26, r/codex (Reddit): “i just tell them to make their own branch and then they can work on the same files at the same time. haven't ever had them fail to merge the code back.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wnnv36/plus_users_hows_your_experience_so_far/pc8u6kl/)
- Praise, 2026-09-23, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “sounds like you may be asking similar questions that reframed the way i've been thinking about agentic development for a bit: <strict_link>. these days, git commits are usually handled by my coding harness (claude code, opencode, codex, etc). they usually write better commit messages than i do so i'm fine with that. for most other things that have multiple steps, i actually stick under an mcp seam as an agentic process where software owns the con” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wmx1zd/do_you_let_claude_code_handle_git_builds_and/pbhywk7/)

- Complaint, 2026-09-27, r/codex (Reddit): “i never used luna 5.6, but luna 6 high has profound mental retardation. just an example: when i asked it to commit and push the changes, this model... tried to do it through the github api for some reason, failed, then told me that it couldn't push because of restrictions. only when i said that there were no restrictions on my side (they were set to "approve for me") did it do what i told it to.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wr2dda/i_ran_100_terminalbench_21_slots_on_luna_56_and/pca09lm/)

### Google Antigravity

- Praise, 2026-09-26, @antigravity (X): “@seyiiiabraham @antigravity you're very stupid, the agent does the push for me and generates the commit messages automatically for me, and you can make your point without getting abusive if you were properly trained with good manners......idiotic son of a b*th.” [source](https://twitter.com/1766151139739766784/status/2103899259154100308)

### Zed

- Praise, 2026-09-27, @zeddotdev (X): “is this the pr replacement we’ve been waiting for in the agentic age? @zeddotdev team has already turned off pull requests on delta’s own repository. they’re building, reviewing and merging changes inside shared agent conversations instead. delta entered public beta on september 16. you spend an hour with an agent investigating a problem, ruling out approaches and working through the fix. then you open a pr and try to explain all that to someone” [source](https://twitter.com/36634050/status/2104270370635452902)

### Amp

### OpenCode

- Praise, 2026-09-27, r/devops (Reddit): “[agents.md](http://agents.md) on opencode that manages the creation of tickets in jira and git branches. so whenever i need to create a ticket to work on something, i just say to opencode that i need it to create a ticket to fix blahblahblah on this repo (with the details and relevant context), and it automatically creates the jira ticket following my company policy, assigns it to me, goes to my local laptop folder where the affected repo is clon” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/devops/comments/1wn4d6w/what_are_your_best_sredevops_time_savers/pceklrc/)

- Complaint, 2026-09-19, r/codex (Reddit): “that is because the people do not know how to work with it doing about 5b tokens a day with it now, it's not normal howmuch work i moved. i even made multiple patches with it (but patches where with opus and astra though) on opencode so i can actually leverage 20 subagents at the time without thoroughput throttling. cpu usage is so much lower now also when using opencode. though opencode seems to ignore many many pr's <strict_link>” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wjysnh/hope_yall_enjoyed_it/paumfb4/)

### Conductor

- Praise, 2026-09-25, r/conductorbuild (Reddit): “i really like the way the projects are structured with worktrees, makes it easy to keep things organised and do more work in parallel. like others have said, the recent ui changes can be confusing at times. i think its best to stick to a default and let users configure the rest through a preferences page.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/conductorbuild/comments/1wp7deq/favourite_thing_in_conductor/pbxng4x/)
- Praise, 2026-09-18, @conductor_build (X): “@arvidkahl maybe give @conductor_build a try. it takes away all the pain of managing worktrees.” [source](https://twitter.com/1163430424233877505/status/2100813562575000025)
- Praise, 2026-09-13, @conductor_build (X): “@euboid @conductor_build local sync was the part i was missing. every multi-agent setup i tried looked fine until two agents edited the same files on different machines and i became the merge tool.” [source](https://twitter.com/2069788300777340928/status/2099061670119428545)
- Complaint, 2026-09-03, @conductor_build (X): “@welson @claudeai @t3dotcodes @conductor_build worktree per thread was cumbersome, and i kept running into issues with my local dev with it. so far only cmux feels right for me - has enough flexibility where i can create worktrees when i want to. i wish i had the flexibility of cmux plus a rich text editor interface..” [source](https://twitter.com/3069491263/status/2095623521062064432)

### GitHub Copilot

- Complaint, 2026-09-04, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “or if you want, you can create a git hook which will strip out any co author shit from the final commit message. i created mine ages ago since i work with copilot clause and codex and it just straight up strips that line from the commit message regardless of the agent harness forcing it” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w6yw16/claude_code_v21259_forces_coauthoredby/p7qz44a/)

### Cline

- Praise, 2026-09-23, r/CLine (Reddit): “we're building a stock market draft game, and the team kept disagreeing on the rules. how many rounds? long holds or short? should you be able to sell and reinvest? instead of building separate versions, we made one site where each version is a set of settings fed into a shared engine. the home page looks like an app store: 6 preset modes plus a custom mode where you pick every rule yourself. the part that made cline work well here was writing de” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/CLine/comments/1wnrjs6/used_cline_to_build_a_configdriven_game_sandbox/)
- Praise, 2026-09-23, @cline (X): “@cline the pr strip in that screenshot is the sleeper feature for me. once several worktrees are open, it’s easy to lose track of which branch failed ci or is already merged. seeing that beside the task closes the loop.” [source](https://twitter.com/2095716579405377536/status/2102852837025976534)

### Pi

- Complaint, 2026-09-16, r/PiCodingAgent (Reddit): “yes, they are constantly running into conflicts.... which they then fix immediately. they do not seem to use worktrees, which i also found \*really\* surprising. it just works like: "start ten agents, give them all the same md file and check back in a few minutes". with the tests i've done, i've had a 100% success rate. still have a hard time believing it, though...” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1whqw6l/are_you_using_selforganizing_agent_swarms_with_pi/pa4p9mu/)
