## The brief

Written by Claude Opus 5.5 from 110 labelled posts and the numbers on this page. Interpretation, not measurement: every quote is verbatim and links to its post.

**Extensions are the new moat, and setup is where they crack.**

TL;DR:

- Claude Code and Pi earn praise because hooks and plugins actually reshape the harness.
- Google Antigravity and Zed draw complaints for missing MCP management and skills that never get indexed.
- Across agents, auth loops, bloated tool schemas and non-portable skills are the recurring breakages.

In plain terms: Wiring in an MCP server or plugin often works on the first try. When it does not, users hit 401s, silent indexers or token spikes. Skills copied from another agent look identical but behave differently.

### How it breaks

- **Auth and install fail without explanation** ([MCP servers, plugins, skills and hooks](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/setup.extensions_mcp.md)). The worst reports are integrations that never connect: credentials accepted, steps followed, and the server still refuses or the plugin never appears.
Posts describe following documented setup to the letter and landing on unauthorized errors, login verify loops that never complete, or a plugin repo that clones fine but never shows up in settings. A Codex CLI update reportedly made MCPs on Windows spawn stray terminal windows. The shared pattern is no error surface telling the user which step failed.
  Evidence:
  - Complaint, Devin, @cognition, 2026-09-01: “@cognition wanted to connect google drive mcp server with devin. followed the steps: 1. created gcloud credentials 2. enabled gdrive and mcp apis 3. copied client id and secret still getting unauthroized 401 errors.” [source](https://twitter.com/1597520550791942145/status/2094829185613103374)
  - Complaint, Amp, @AmpCode, 2026-09-01: “hey @0xbrettj i copied orbstack into my amp-hosted personal plugins repository and pushed it. repository: <strict_link> commits: 04473ad add orbstack personal plugin 242794b trigger personal plugin indexing the repository has the documented directory-plugin layout: orbstack/index.ts orbstack/skills/... orbstack/agents/... `amp clone user-plugins` retrieves the complete plugin successfully, but personal settings to plugins still says “no personal plugins yet.” could you check whether the personal plugin indexer processed this repository?” [source](https://twitter.com/1535774830225944576/status/2094708997333172321)
  - Complaint, Amp, @AmpCode, 2026-09-26: “@stephenhaney @ampcode @paper got you! thank you stephen if amp is not hallucinating it seems that it can indeed use webmcp with paper, however i am stuck in this step when trying to login (verify loop that never goes through), worth reporting to you? <strict_link>” [source](https://twitter.com/1806712189757382656/status/2103917620554789173)
  - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app, 2026-09-25: “well.. codex cli 0.157.0 just caused all kind of strange behaviors for mcps on windows anyway. it opened up a bunch of terminal windows i guess i gotta fix that now...” [source](https://twitter.com/902608144928559104/status/2103605010424606907)

- **Tool schemas flood the context** ([MCP servers, plugins, skills and hooks](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/setup.extensions_mcp.md)). Installing one MCP server can dump every tool definition into the prompt, burning tokens and handing the agent far more reach than the task needs.
Users report token usage spiking after adding a single server because tools are not progressively disclosed. Others see unexplained bills traced to hooks or MCP servers firing extra model calls in the background. A parallel complaint is scope. Users want tools granted per task, not the whole MCP surface exposed at once. Skill files generated by AI add their own bloat.
  Evidence:
  - Complaint, Factory, @FactoryAI, 2026-09-16: “@tereza_tizkova @aiandcloud @factoryai droid cli mcp doesn’t appear to progressively disclose tools. installing playwright mcp dumped every tool schema into the system prompt and spiked token usage. painful on strictly metered plans like modelark coding plan.” [source](https://twitter.com/2873362628/status/2100072536218513713)
  - Complaint, Amp, @AmpCode, 2026-09-25: “@iannuttall @ampcode mcp without scoped tools is just a longer leash.” [source](https://twitter.com/1765219965479825408/status/2103510394580967558)
  - Complaint, GitHub Copilot, r/GithubCopilot, 2026-09-09: “that token usage jump is wierd, but it sounds like the agent is hitting hooks or mcp servers that trigger extra model calls in the background. i started using backslash to map my agentic fabric graph so i could see which mcp servers and hooks were actually touching my data, it helps keep track of what the agent is doing behind the scenes. the tradeoff is that u have to manage the graph as ur stack grows, but its better than guessing why ur bill is high” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/GithubCopilot/comments/1wazz5g/using_assisted_permissions_seem_to_increase_token/p8r8mjp/)
  - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-14: “skills are just text and most of the time they are generated by.. ai! now imagine reading the wall of text ai posts on this sub and now imagine having that bloat your context. if you truly need any static information that you want your chat or new chats to hold onto just type it in manually in an agents.md” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wg83up/they_said_anything_when_will_codex_be_usable/p9tnhaa/)

- **Cross-agent skills look portable, aren't** ([MCP servers, plugins, skills and hooks](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/setup.extensions_mcp.md)). Same markdown, same frontmatter, different behaviour. Skills and subagents copied between harnesses break quietly because each tool forks its own install path and semantics.
Users moving subagent files between tools find they look identical and fail anyway. Others note that a shared plugin spec is only branding if each CLI installs differently. ACP bridges add their own gaps, with one harness accepting client-declared tools and then ignoring them. Loading skills from other agents' directories shows up as a request across many agents.
  Evidence:
  - Complaint, OpenCode, @opencode, 2026-09-27: “i'd just added five custom subagents to @opencode to speed up my blog workflow. copied the files straight from a different ai coding tool i already use daily. same surface shape — markdown, yaml frontmatter, a tools: field. looked identical. wasn't.” [source](https://twitter.com/69323582/status/2104127359544934850)
  - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app, 2026-09-21: “@khanaibuilds one plugin across claude code, codex cli, and antigravity only helps if the skill surface stays identical. the moment each cli forks its own install path, the agent plugins spec is just branding.” [source](https://twitter.com/38129147/status/2102120679592137115)
  - Complaint, Kiro, r/kiroIDE, 2026-09-15: “> client-declared tools (the harness's own functions) — not honored by kiro-cli today. definitions on session/prompt (top-level tools or _meta.tools) are accepted but ignored; as much as i want to use your gateway, this is still a blocker for me.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/kiroIDE/comments/1w3j02c/𝐔𝐬𝐞_𝐀𝐖𝐒_𝐊𝐢𝐫𝐨_𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧_𝐟𝐨𝐫_𝐚𝐧𝐲_𝐀𝐈_𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬/p9xiah3/)
  - Complaint, GitHub Copilot, r/conductorbuild, 2026-09-21: “<strict_link> opencode lets me attach copilot models, but when i select them in conductor, there is exactly 1 skill available - switch to plan mode. is that a known issue?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/conductorbuild/comments/1wma8yq/cant_use_skills_in_copilot_via_opencode_bug_report/)

- **Skills fire unreliably or not at all** ([MCP servers, plugins, skills and hooks](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/setup.extensions_mcp.md)). Skills that load but never trigger are a common frustration, and manual slash invocation sometimes fails to pull the instructions in.
Users question how a model knows when to search for a skill it cannot see. One team's review of public skill repos found almost none test activation. Copilot users report slash-invoking a skill without its instructions loading. Sceptics call many skills placebo and inject context by hand instead. Some freeze third-party skills entirely over supply-chain risk.
  Evidence:
  - Complaint, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-20: “we actually did analysis of \~50 common skill repos. only \~10 % do decent gating of ci on it, only 2 were testing skill activation. everyone just ships skills without much evals/testing. i agree - it's still early.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wlkcbx/skills_are_the_new_code_evals_discussion/pazd5fc/)
  - Complaint, Pi, r/PiCodingAgent, 2026-09-20: “doesn't answer the question how does the model know it should search for a skill? and with what keywords? it knows it has access to skills. doesn't know when to search for them, and what to search for.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wk10nu/i_made_piskillorchestrator_to_stop_large_skill/pb1j668/)
  - Complaint, GitHub Copilot, r/GithubCopilot, 2026-09-06: “i will exlain more: can’t invoke the skill manually means when invoking with slash skill-name, the skill’s instruction cannot be loaded” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/GithubCopilot/comments/1w6zd0l/github_copilot_cli_command_reference/p85zbgn/)
  - Complaint, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-27: “i just don't update external skills. the only ones i auto update are anthropic official ones, and our in-house skills. everything else is a snapshot. the security risks aren't worth whatever incremental improvement they might have made.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wr874k/has_anyone_found_a_reliable_way_to_scan_agent/pcb521b/)

- **Hooks enforce rules, then fail quietly** ([MCP servers, plugins, skills and hooks](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/setup.extensions_mcp.md)). Hooks are praised as the only real enforcement layer, but when one fails users have to dig through logs to notice.
Engineers use stop hooks to auto-run tests and pre-commit hooks to block secrets, because rules in a markdown file are not enforced tightly. The ask is a clear lifecycle and visible failures. Users want hook errors inline, not buried. Some report the agent still tries to route around hook-based governance.
  Evidence:
  - Complaint, Claude Code, @ClaudeDevs, 2026-09-03: “@claudedevs if this builds on the current hooks, great direction. i lean on a stop hook to auto-run tests and a pre-commit one to block secrets. biggest ask: surface hook failures inline instead of making me go hunt the logs.” [source](https://twitter.com/2094565415863111680/status/2095574852048429126)
  - Praise, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-10: “i am trying to learn more about hooks and how to use them - as a software engineer (old school) i definitely get the idea, and this is actually a great use case since putting a 'rule' into an md file is never enforced as tightly as i think it will be. i'm gonna try it - any change you could share how the hook works? this will be the first hook i'm actually creating on my own.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wcuxrq/the_rule_and_phrase_that_helped_claude_stop_going/p90ztxb/)
  - Praise, Claude Code, r/google_antigravity, 2026-09-04: “thanks! regarding your points - yes, with every such system i tripple check that they are in correct folder physicaly, that location is properly setup in the agent environment and search for some other missing settings after incident with cursor. i gave it folder, set it up, but it still ran away to chek my pictures 😅🤣 nothing in there, but was an interesting choise, apparently i didn't do folder setting up in one more extra location, so it ignored the one i setup 😅 haven't had that issue with agy, it just loves to delete project files 🤣 and hooks - i used them a lot with claude code just starting to see how they work with agy, seems to be working fine, i try to implement my governance system (saved as a file in 00_governance) through hooks so they finaly would work 😅 some luck, sometimes it still tries to go around it in any mallicious compliant way it can 🤣” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1w69qmt/finally_someone_popular_bringing_attention_to/p7q5lu6/)

### Who stands out

- **Claude Code (stronger)**. Hooks and plugin packaging make Claude Code the reference harness, and its complaints are mostly asks for more extension points rather than breakage.
Users treat hooks as a containment layer that redacts secrets and controls what the model sees, stronger than a system prompt. Direct GitHub-based MCP deployment draws praise for cutting setup friction. The friction shows up around the edges. Plugin reviews sit pending, and power users keep asking for interceptable tool calls and a defined hook failure contract.
  Evidence:
  - Praise, Claude Code, @ClaudeDevs, 2026-09-03: “@claudedevs hooks that redact secrets or change what the model sees aren't just plugins - they're a containment layer most agent setups skip entirely. that's the real permission boundary, not a system prompt. #agenticai #llmops @anthropicai <strict_link>” [source](https://twitter.com/14402278/status/2095621756916834528)
  - Praise, Claude Code, @ClaudeDevs, 2026-09-26: “@claudedevs finally making mcp deployment frictionless. most devs won't bother with custom connectors if setup takes 30 minutes. direct github integration changes that — basically "upload your mcp, it works" that's how adoption actually happens” [source](https://twitter.com/2010573662588690432/status/2103866464482586826)
  - Praise, Claude Code, @ClaudeDevs, 2026-09-25: “@claudedevs claude plugins accelerate because easier submission and mcp packaging turn builders into a growing force” [source](https://twitter.com/1890810441544433664/status/2103584447782371604)
  - Complaint, Claude Code, @ClaudeDevs, 2026-09-25: “@claudedevs hey i submitted a plugin few months ago and it's still pending. will reviews be quicker?” [source](https://twitter.com/1659120705366269952/status/2103611960919249325)

- **Pi (stronger)**. Pi wins on raw extensibility. Users rebuild the harness to fit their workflow, though the package ecosystem gets hard to navigate.
Posts describe Pi as a framework for building custom workspaces, with users shipping their own extensions, skills and plugins and running local models through it. The cost is sprawl. Users find overlapping packages bewildering, question whether gallery subagent extensions undercut the minimal design, and want basics like tasks shipped by default.
  Evidence:
  - Praise, Pi, r/PiCodingAgent, 2026-09-27: “pi has extension, i've built my own for my harness too. imho it's a way to go instead of compactions” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wrq50c/new_session_handoff_vs_compact_which_do_you_prefer/pceoo4i/)
  - Praise, Pi, r/PiCodingAgent, 2026-09-10: “imo it's the customisability but especially because it allows you to use it as a framework to create your own workspaces tailored to your needs, you can build applications on top of it to suit your needs it's heavily underestimated” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wcj9bg/who_uses_pi_what_do_you_like_about_it/p8zefxm/)
  - Praise, Pi, @pidotdev, 2026-09-23: “@rasbt i have @pidotdev laid out exactly how i want a harness to be with skills and plugins that i’ve created and open source. i use it with @grok and local models via llama.cpp. wish claude would let me use pi natively.” [source](https://twitter.com/15770784/status/2102836673717674292)
  - Complaint, Pi, r/PiCodingAgent, 2026-09-26: “also, no, i don't mind pi's minimalism though i like the appearance of opencode. it's that the ecosystem is challenging to navigate because of a bewildering number of packages that sometimes offer overlapping capabilities.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wqh2u4/ohmypi_or_opencode_why/pc47ifa/)

- **Google Antigravity (weaker)**. Antigravity users say MCP management lags rivals. Configured servers get ignored and local MCP support is missing.
One user had a codegraph MCP configured and instructed in agents.md, yet Antigravity kept grepping files while other agents used the tool. Others cite struggles with Figma, no direct MCP plugin path, and no local MCP. Requests cluster on a marketplace and better plugin support. Praise exists, mostly for MCP-backed search and custom review servers.
  Evidence:
  - Complaint, Google Antigravity, r/google_antigravity, 2026-09-01: “i’d like to know if there will be a convenient way to manage mcp. cursor and claude code have really pulled ahead in this regard, whereas antigravity struggles even with figma.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1w3xjkl/is_antigravity_ide_not_getting_updates/p74kkup/)
  - Praise, OpenCode, r/google_antigravity, 2026-09-25: “to reduce token usage, i try to have every agent use codegraph. it has worked really well with opencode and copilot so far, but it seems antigravity isn't using it (it analyzes a lot of files, uses grep to find them,...). i already have the mcp configured, and i've added instructions in my \`agents.md\` file telling \`agy\` to use it and to sync the database every time it updates files: ## codegraph - **mcp usage**: use the codegraph mcp tool (`codegraph_explore`) whenever possible to understand architecture, explore symbols, dependencies, and context before making changes or performing extensive manual searches (passing `projectpath: "/home/<redacted>"`). - **synchronization (`sync`)**: after making modifications, adding, or removing files in the project, you must run `codegraph sync` to keep the index up to date. has anyone run into this issue with antigravity? <strict_link>” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1wppaje/codegraph_antigravity_integration_issues/)
  - Complaint, Google Antigravity, @antigravity, 2026-09-26: “why does gemini still lack support for local mcp? @ammaar @officiallogank @antigravity @lyalindotcom @dynamicwebpaige @_philschmid @geminiapp” [source](https://twitter.com/1915026367571546112/status/2103729390219890816)
  - Complaint, Google Antigravity, @antigravity, 2026-09-23: “@rodydavis @antigravity i know, but the browser use previously is far more better and i am using in antigravity. there is no direct plug-in that is mcp.” [source](https://twitter.com/1405851706848530432/status/2102612733191659714)

- **Zed (weaker)**. Zed's ACP bridge is loved, but users report custom skills from other agents go unindexed and extension handling feels unfinished.
ACP draws the warmest praise. Users say it gives the editor direct access to agent internals and lets them plug in their own harness. Complaints dominate otherwise. Skills defined in Claude or OpenCode are not picked up, and one thread calls an extension behaviour a security flaw. Top requests still name ACP, MCP support and a richer extensibility API.
  Evidence:
  - Complaint, Zed, r/ZedEditor, 2026-09-24: “something i haven't liked is that if i have custom skills within claude or opencode, it doesn't manage to index them.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZedEditor/comments/1wohfe8/zed_the_new_ide_to_rule_them_all/pboipht/)
  - Praise, Zed, @zeddotdev, 2026-09-13: “@maria_rcks that it takes forever to see new harnesses added and that i can't just connect my own harness over acp the way i can in @zeddotdev” [source](https://twitter.com/2022645967615365120/status/2099028259589521876)
  - Complaint, Zed, r/ZedEditor, 2026-09-24: “this is simply ignorance, it absolutely is a critical security flaw in zed.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZedEditor/comments/1wosnp7/zed_still_silently_downloads_binaries_after_two/pbqtlj2/)
  - Praise, Zed, r/ZedEditor, 2026-09-19: “acp is the biggest thing for me: it basically gives your editor direct access to agent's internals, so the whole integration feels more "native" instead of just slapping a console into a panel * ctrl+f to search text in a session * copy selection or code blocks without extra new lines or spaces * output styling including font family/size [(more coming)](<strict_link>) * run agents inside a docker container with limited filesystem & network access but without sacrificing any features * context switching based on sessions all you need is a little agent-specific adapter like [claude-agent-acp](<strict_link>)” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZedEditor/comments/1wjp5nq/popular_zed_fork_where_the_community_is_more/pau9iyd/)

### Fine print

- Devin, Cline, Kiro, Factory and smaller agents have too few posts to rank; their quotes illustrate patterns, not standing.
- Many posts are replies to vendor accounts on X, which skews toward launch reactions and feature requests.
- Claude Code's complaint volume includes requests for more hook points, which signals heavy use rather than breakage.

## Top requests

What users ask to add or change, most asked first. 611 author-weeks ask for something. Requests do not change the Feedback Score. Rule: A separate pass by Claude Sonnet 5 reads every counted post and extracts what the author asks the agent or its vendor to add or change, with the criteria it maps to and a short normalised wording; it does not touch the labels or the Feedback Score. Claude Opus 5.5 groups the wordings within each criterion (the first criterion the request maps to) into themes; code counts them. A theme counts distinct author-weeks that ask for it, per agent; across agents, one author-week per agent. Themes asked in fewer than 2 author-weeks, and requests that share no theme, are not shown. Examples: up to 3 posts per theme from different authors, without slurs, preferring posts of 60 to 450 characters, most recent first.

### 1. Hooks that intercept and block tool calls

- Pi, 2026-09-20, r/PiCodingAgent (Reddit): “in general it shouldn't matter but what i always miss is the lack of observability (what has changed exactly) and ability to put hooks during the process (for example formatting or linting etc), that's why i very much prefer native tooling over bash” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wgoknm/would_you_prefer_agent_to_writeedit_using_bash/paxn817/)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-07, @ClaudeDevs (X): “the killer use case here might be guardrails, not customization. imagine a hook that catches every destructive db/file action, checks the diff + environment, and requires approval only when the risk is actually high. plugins become much more interesting when they can make agents safer, not just more capable.” [source](https://twitter.com/2094713034648510464/status/2096873698326458860)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-07, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs function hooks are the extensibility win if they fail closed and stay observable. most wanted: pre-tool policy checks + post-tool verification hooks with structured logs.” [source](https://twitter.com/1332369570/status/2096809743088013485)

### 2. MCP server support

- Google Antigravity, 2026-09-26, @antigravity (X): “@antigravity what's next, mcp access? plugins? sub-agents? come on google” [source](https://twitter.com/2071953914182725633/status/2103961295603323325)
- Google Antigravity, 2026-09-26, @antigravity (X): “why does gemini still lack support for local mcp? @ammaar @officiallogank @antigravity @lyalindotcom @dynamicwebpaige @_philschmid @geminiapp” [source](https://twitter.com/1915026367571546112/status/2103729390219890816)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-23, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs local threads matter less than local context: 2,481 emails indexed in 1.04 s, 32 ms a search, nothing leaves the disk. a local agent renting your inbox from a saas isn't local. what beat keyword search surprised us. projects plus mcp next? <strict_link>” [source](https://twitter.com/1555956036/status/2102910059005010217)

### 3. Agent Client Protocol (ACP) support

- Google Antigravity, 2026-09-07, @antigravity (X): “@serg_vecher @antigravity hey @serg_vecher did you figure it out? is there any agy acp implementation? i can not find it. would love to have it for opencode” [source](https://twitter.com/2018079570012872705/status/2097062291678118032)
- Google Antigravity, 2026-09-05, @antigravity (X): “@nlycskn @antigravity @thtbee_ i used it in agy cli 50% of my case it does not follow my prompt still good at svg though trying to make it better at video editing if you folks at antigravity support acpx or like codex apps sdk” [source](https://twitter.com/504201696/status/2096354877442302215)
- Zed, 2026-09-02, @zeddotdev (X): “@zeddotdev's delta is the most unique, yet (on the surface) the simplest coding agent orchestrator i've used. it's so beautiful, i'm such a big fan. my only issue is i can't continue using it unless they support acp like they do on zed.” [source](https://twitter.com/1801018634602479616/status/2095290435250126910)

### 4. More hook extension points

- Amp, 2026-09-27, @AmpCode (X): “@sqs @purefunctor @ampcode more plugin hooks would make this more seamless - keepalive for orb is neat but would be nice to mark thread as active not idle. being able to inject ui (eg relayed turn messages) into the thread” [source](https://twitter.com/3852971/status/2104008031155470738)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-18, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “today vise doesn’t have a first-class post-run hook that fires *before* the agent opens or updates the pr. the harness (claude code) does the branch/commit/pr work; vise tracks the session afterward (`pr_state_changed`, `checks_state_changed`, etc.). so there isn’t a clean “attach artifacts right before pr create” extension point yet. i'd be happy to chat further on what an plugin might look like.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wj8ej0/i_built_an_opensource_runner_so_i_can_kick_off/paln4mg/)
- GitHub Copilot, 2026-09-13, r/GithubCopilot (Reddit): “nice, saw the staged update fix. i work on hol, where we maintain hol guard, an open-source local check before agent-run commands execute. clco has a clean boundary around `update`, `setup`, `token --clear`, and `logout`; `status` and `version` can stay automatic. that gives agents a checkpoint before changing the install, saved settings, or auth state. open to a small clco guard extension?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/GithubCopilot/comments/1wexrf2/clco_claude_code_with_github_copilot/p9imm83/)

### 5. Clear hook lifecycle and failure contract

- Claude Code, 2026-09-04, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs if hooks can emit structured events, i’d use them for project history as much as automation: task started/finished, files touched, review result, human approval. stable event schemas would matter a lot for long-running sessions. are hook outputs meant to be machine-consumable?” [source](https://twitter.com/2094388751481131008/status/2095863198843032017)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-04, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs hooks that can rewrite tool policy mid-session need a trust model before they need a launch blog. signed hooks, sandbox, or hope?” [source](https://twitter.com/2788825408/status/2095820414429659318)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-04, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs function hooks could make agent behavior far more composable, but they also widen the trust boundary. typed inputs, permission scopes, deterministic failure handling, and a visible execution trace should arrive with the extension surface.” [source](https://twitter.com/297960594/status/2095738214086742112)

### 6. Extension and plugin marketplace

- Zed, 2026-09-25, @zeddotdev (X): “@spinflowstudio @theo @zeddotdev using it for some time now, but the plugin support is not really there yet. there is a lack of functionalities from the massive ecosystem of plugins vscode community has managed to create over the years” [source](https://twitter.com/1910279414304198656/status/2103302414673859067)
- Google Antigravity, 2026-09-17, r/google_antigravity (Reddit): “i think the agent interface is too minimal by design, extensions beyond changing design and colors won't really make sense. plugins make more sense to modify the agent behavior and they are already supported by antigravity, they just don't have a good marketplace for them which their biggest obstacle for broader adoption” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1wi2h0a/antigravity_needs_extensions_and_plugins/pabn78o/)
- OpenCode, 2026-09-16, @opencode (X): “i have been using desktop including beta version 1.removal of sidebar 2. no project wise tab groups in vertical ( i turned it on in beta ) and horizontal tabs 3. home page has nothing going on 4. session deletion is only possible from ellipsis of that session not from sidebar/tab 5. settings in my opinion looks better as a page than modal 6. context breakdown removed in beta 7. something like mcp or skill store would be nice” [source](https://twitter.com/1999052311897972736/status/2100281158118613313)

### 7. Load skills from other agents' directories

- Google Antigravity, 2026-09-26, r/google_antigravity (Reddit): “please ensure compatibility with global skills from skills.sh.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1wqb0ii/dedicated_planning_mode_in_antigravity_is_here/pc405qj/)
- Zed, 2026-09-24, r/ZedEditor (Reddit): “something i haven't liked is that if i have custom skills within claude or opencode, it doesn't manage to index them.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZedEditor/comments/1wohfe8/zed_the_new_ide_to_rule_them_all/pboipht/)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-18, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “still needs to read skills from .agents/skills so i can stop symlinking it.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wk2q8v/agentsmd_now_supported_in_claude_code/pann211/)

### 8. Richer extensibility API

- Pi, 2026-09-27, r/PiCodingAgent (Reddit): “giga bloat even with system prompt off no way to trim down tool output or set limits unless u waste a ton of tokens making a wrapper no custom extensions etc” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wrjr75/the_good_opensource_harness/pcgm7ya/)
- Pi, 2026-09-22, @pidotdev (X): “@pidotdev let me override more of `pi` 👀 i want to be able to take ownership of the message parsing / handling directly at the response or websocket layer. let me own the session storage. let me change how messages are ordered.” [source](https://twitter.com/849247899770925057/status/2102420812028633454)
- Pi, 2026-09-22, @pidotdev (X): “@pidotdev just keep it simple and make it so adding new functionality is also dead simple more api access to the internals. tried writing ohmypi time travel rules and pi doesn't allow 100% reproduction” [source](https://twitter.com/18738053/status/2102406817233989777)

### 9. Slash commands and manual skill invocation

- Pi, 2026-09-12, @pidotdev (X): “hi @badlogicgames @pidotdev : is it possible to invoke more than 1 skill at a time? am currently not able to.” [source](https://twitter.com/1309695877888368640/status/2098825614602260823)
- OpenCode, 2026-09-07, r/opencode (Reddit): “eh it's ok. i'm on the contributor, at least it's reducing my claude usage, and quality is pretty nice. opencode is nice i'm liking it better than codex. i would like subagents to automatically be detected from claude config, and for skills to get slash commands” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1w91y83/meta_spark_13_for_free_is_surprisingly_great_but/p89fyq2/)
- GitHub Copilot, 2026-09-04, r/GithubCopilot (Reddit): “anyone else seeing this with github copilot skills? if i set `disable-model-invocation: true`, i can’t invoke the skill manually either. i thought it was only supposed to stop copilot from auto-invoking the skill, according to the docs?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/GithubCopilot/comments/1w6zd0l/github_copilot_cli_command_reference/)

### 10. Better plugin support

- Google Antigravity, 2026-09-23, @antigravity (X): “@rodydavis @antigravity as a harness, i think it should be far better than what it is right now. i know you are a huge developer and i am nobody but z code is also better than antigravity multiple things it needs plug-in and browser” [source](https://twitter.com/1405851706848530432/status/2102604582119789031)
- Cline, 2026-09-19, @cline (X): “@huangrenee3 @r3dchou @cline can u add more plugins and tools for cline desktop 🙏” [source](https://twitter.com/1323741946939166725/status/2101285473515684043)
- Zed, 2026-09-13, r/ZedEditor (Reddit): “fork looks cool, really makes me wish zed had better plugin support” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZedEditor/comments/1wdnpnp/how_long_until_the_zed_team_get_acquired/p9haz16/)

### 11. Integration with other agent harnesses

- OpenCode, 2026-09-21, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “even if it is "just another wrapper", it's one of the cleaner and better looking ones i've seen so far! what are the chances of it supporting more harnesses like pi and opencode in the future?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wly13s/after_a_few_requests_wanted_to_share_harbor_the/pb4cof6/)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-18, r/opencode (Reddit): “i have been using claude opus in claude code as an orchestrator and then passing it to muse spark in opencode. is there a way or bridge that someone has used, maybe mcp even that claude code and open code talk to each other rather than me copying pasting, paraphrasing prompts.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wjselh/bridge_between_claude_code_and_open_code_anyone/)
- Zed, 2026-09-17, r/ZedEditor (Reddit): “but why do we need another coding agent?! it should work seamlessly with cli tools - claude code, codex, grok build, ... or am i missing something?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ZedEditor/comments/1whydrw/delta_in_public_beta/pabaoen/)

### 12. Ship function hooks feature

- Claude Code, 2026-09-04, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs "hasn't shipped yet" — take my feedback, just ship it already 😂” [source](https://twitter.com/1871289381962784768/status/2095911428867936276)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-04, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs function hooks are what i actually want. videos are cool. ship the github issue path.” [source](https://twitter.com/20651554/status/2095873257350066201)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-03, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs function hooks aren't shipped yet. the demo that matters is the one i'd actually wire into claude code tomorrow.” [source](https://twitter.com/1944009032471392258/status/2095591949256548775)

### Pi

- Praise, 2026-09-27, r/PiCodingAgent (Reddit): “pi has extension, i've built my own for my harness too. imho it's a way to go instead of compactions” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wrq50c/new_session_handoff_vs_compact_which_do_you_prefer/pceoo4i/)
- Praise, 2026-09-27, r/PiCodingAgent (Reddit): “i'm using pi-blackhole and never had problems with it. what did you used?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wrq50c/new_session_handoff_vs_compact_which_do_you_prefer/pcezess/)
- Praise, 2026-09-26, r/PiCodingAgent (Reddit): “yep, and being able to incrementally build out applications. then, since pi/pig are already so extensible, it lets you start with a base application that can grow into an isolated, shippable product. especially when you want non-technical people to be able to get up and go with an agent app you made for them, with zero setup beyond running it (onboarding credentials aside).” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wqe2v1/meet_pig_the_pi_coding_harness_that_is_yours_but/pc47war/)
- Complaint, 2026-09-27, r/PiCodingAgent (Reddit): “ok, honestly i do not understand why this is popular, this is literally just vibed code knock off from codex/ux, 'make an app that has pi backend, but look exactly like codex', done, one prompt, second, for any modern harness/app, esp claude code, one plugin, you could run anything, configure in anyways you want, codex is less customizable for obvious reasons, i cant believe how ignorant people are wasting time on garbage like this” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wcp3b7/supernova_a_minimal_opinionated_and_sleek/pcb85p7/)

### Claude Code

- Praise, 2026-09-27, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “skills has been really useful for me to inject business related knowledge into the context. /handoff really good for managing context /grill-me has been really useful to get the model to write the exact specifications i am looking for. people are not very precise when speaking to an agent, and often underspecify their requirements and end up getting upset when the agent end up doing something else.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wowilt/i_still_dont_understand_this_agentic_workflow/pcb8zwi/)
- Praise, 2026-09-27, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “oh nice, bookmarked. ffmpeg flags are the one thing i can never keep in my head, so a skill for it makes a lot of sense” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wr4yjz/wanted_to_edit_some_footage_of_a_game_i_was/pcde6qo/)
- Praise, 2026-09-27, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “the two reasons you listed are not the ones that matter. claude code is my daily driver because it is a process you can compose: pipe it into a script, run claude -p headless from a git hook or cron, ssh into a box and drive it there. a desktop app needs a person sitting in front of it. that is where the extension surface lives too. skills, hooks, subagents and claude.md sit in the repo and travel with the checkout, so the setup moves with the pr” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wrhtyd/new_to_claude_why_should_we_use_claude_code_over/pcese2a/)

### Amp

- Praise, 2026-09-26, @AmpCode (X): “@stephenhaney @ampcode @paper ignore by other post with issue (spamming longer and it went through) i have gotten it to work at the end, seems that amp can support webmcp big thank you <strict_link>” [source](https://twitter.com/1806712189757382656/status/2103919135994581227)

- Praise, 2026-09-23, @AmpCode (X): “build my first @ampcode plugin! it gives the agent a tool to ask me for secrets, and allows the agent to save them to wherever it needs to without reading it. super cool that the plugin system allows me to expose custom ui elements!” [source](https://twitter.com/1567548474794835969/status/2102602409663181223)

### OpenCode

- Praise, 2026-09-26, r/opencodeCLI (Reddit): “since no one in comments seems to answer the questions (classic reddit). 1.- it was developed because v1 was incredibly messy and outdated, batch reading/editing for example was not a thing, image reading needed to be done manually, performance was trash, client/server wasn't a thing and therefore you had to make a whole app for every version of opencode which i suppose for devs was maintenance nightmare. and many, many more issues. 2.- clearly t” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencodeCLI/comments/1wlcs58/questions_i_have_about_v2/pc4d50x/)
- Praise, 2026-09-26, r/opencode (Reddit): “v2 is much better, it adds codemode to save tokens, search for mcp tools, and it also has this idea where everything can be modified/customized.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wqppth/opencode_v2/pc6i087/)
- Praise, 2026-09-26, r/opencode (Reddit): “i had been using a mix of v1 and v2 for a while, but about a week ago i finally switched entirely to v2. for me at least, it is significantly less buggy. ui and other glitches that had been annoying me for months in v1 are now gone. only major pain was adapting my sandboxing approach to account for its shared service, but the new internal architecture is worth it because it allows for more powerful plugin extensions.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wqgyi8/v1v2_bait_and_switch/pc6qs7x/)
- Complaint, 2026-09-27, r/opencode (Reddit): “i've had a lot of plugins break, 💔 if you don't use any plugins then yet it'll be a step up in theory. tbh been leaning on goose a lot as of late.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wqppth/opencode_v2/pcad331/)
