# Pricing and plan terms stated clearly and consistently (`billing.pricing_clarity`)

Feedback Bench, coding agents, built 2026-10-01, window 2026-08-31 to 2026-09-27. Web page: https://feedbackbench.com/#/criterion/billing.pricing_clarity

Area: [Paying and limits](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/paying.md)

**Definition.** Whether pricing pages, docs and plan descriptions clearly and consistently state costs, limits and what 'unlimited' means.

**Boundary.** Not this: see [Price, allowance or plan terms changed](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/limits.allowance_change.md) when terms actually changed. Not this: see [Usage meter visibility and accuracy](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/limits.usage_meter.md) for in-product usage display.

Rated author-weeks, all agents: 1436. Complaint share: 94%.

## The brief

Written by Claude Opus 5.5 from 79 labelled posts and the numbers on this page. Interpretation, not measurement: every quote is verbatim and links to its post.

**Plans sell multipliers and credits, but never say multiples of what.**

TL;DR:

- Complaints swamp praise for every agent; users cannot map a plan price to real work.
- OpenAI Codex is the only agent rated worse than peers, over undocumented subscription allowances.
- The top request across vendors is blunt: publish exact usage limits for each plan.

In plain terms: You pay a flat price and get a multiplier, a credit pool or a 'daily quota' with no unit behind it. You learn what it buys when you hit the wall, then compare notes on Reddit.

### How it breaks

- **Plans sold without a unit** ([Pricing and plan terms stated clearly and consistently](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/billing.pricing_clarity.md)). Higher tiers promise more usage without defining the baseline, so every upgrade is a bet.
Pricing pages lean on phrases like 'significantly higher quotas' or tier multipliers with no anchor. A Devin user won't risk the top plan without knowing how long it lasts. A Codex user finds API pricing but nothing that describes subscription allowances. Factory and Cline buyers ask the same question in different words. Published exact per-plan limits is the most requested fix on this page, and Claude Code and Codex users ask for it most.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Devin, @cognition, 2026-09-16: “@cognition , i waned to test max account, but unfortunately i have no idea of how much it would endure, which makes too hard to take a decision to risk $200 on it. how can i know about it? miss a bit of clarity on this subject.” [source](https://twitter.com/64041638/status/2100226167705858439)
 - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-09: “and if that's the case, i can get on board with that and set my expectations. but where is that documented? i can't find anything about it except for api pricing which is not the same as sub pricing.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wboih2/tokens_with_astra_vs_sol/p8rr3we/)
 - Complaint, Factory, @droid, 2026-09-11: “@droid was checking your plans to try out, but honestly it's confusing for me, can't tell clearly how much usage i can get out of each plan, like what does this even mean? "free open-weight model pool with separate rate limits after standard usage runs out."” [source](https://twitter.com/110445340/status/2098237415844684151)
 - Complaint, Cline, @cline, 2026-09-21: “@cline cline pass may be a very competitive subscription, but i can't intuitively see how much usage i can get. can you create a description similar to opencode go or command code to roughly estimate how much usage we can get?” [source](https://twitter.com/703605344338092032/status/2102185426350154160)

- **Docs and dashboard disagree** ([Pricing and plan terms stated clearly and consistently](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/billing.pricing_clarity.md)). When the docs promise one allowance and the dashboard shows another, users stop trusting both.
An OpenCode user reads a monthly dollar allowance in the docs, then sees a fraction of it per model on the dashboard. Others argue over whether the advertised figure lasts the month or a few days, parsing words like 'includes' for meaning. A Cursor user says support quoted a smaller credit than the promo dashboard showed. The pattern is the same everywhere. Two official sources, two numbers, no arbiter.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, OpenCode, @opencode, 2026-09-02: “.@thdxr @opencode what does this mean ? according to your docs we should get $60 s of an model in opencode go , but according to your dashboard i only get $15 of luna and $30 of glm 5.3 flash this is confusing can someone from opencode clear this up please ? <strict_link>” [source](https://twitter.com/1697837501388320768/status/2095155442511208685)
 - Complaint, OpenCode, r/opencode, 2026-09-11: “you're wrong. opencode is $15 they are scamming people. $60 is only for 3 days read the docs [<strict_link>” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wcqcew/opencode_go_subscription/p93k2nu/)
 - Complaint, Cursor, @cursor_ai, 2026-09-18: “yes, during the promo everything was linked. i got $400 for the first month, but now cursor support clearly states it is only $100 ultra api for free cursor ultra account (which makes it not cursor ultra). cursor case number is t-f84456 if you want to see who can help correct support if this is coincidentally miscommunication and misconfiguration of the dashboard.” [source](https://twitter.com/89291422/status/2101045471150260353)
 - Complaint, OpenCode, r/opencode, 2026-09-19: “i would dislike that, can confitm the exact list... "includes" - not "consisting of" makes me hope a little....” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wkgg9v/ds_v41_flash_and_hy4_removed/paqg1re/)

- **Credits as an opaque currency** ([Pricing and plan terms stated clearly and consistently](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/billing.pricing_clarity.md)). Credits and token pools hide per-model cost, so users cannot predict spend until the bill or meter moves.
Users ask vendors to publish per-model credit costs because a credit alone predicts nothing. A Cursor user reports a review feature's cost jumping with no visibility into token use. Codex users say the listed price ratio between models does not match how long each actually lasts. A Kiro user reverse-engineered credit math and concluded one model cost more than public API rates. A Pi user wants cache misses surfaced before they show up on the bill.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Warp, @warpdotdev, 2026-09-18: “@vikvang1 @warpdotdev 5. publish per-model credit costs. i can't predict spend based on credits alone as they're an opaque unit.” [source](https://twitter.com/14132756/status/2100995139632353380)
 - Complaint, Cursor, @cursor_ai, 2026-09-19: “is it me or @cursor_ai bugbot just 200% it's cost? very opaque pricing, you just pay tokens but you don't have visibility on how they are used 🤔 any good alternatives for reviews?” [source](https://twitter.com/12455632/status/2101253576240529555)
 - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-23: “i became not believing what they put in pricing for example they put astra way cheaper than fable 5.1 but they last the same and in medium fable last more than astra medium” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wnh014/absolutely_no_fking_way_the_pricing_is_wowww/pbj2n00/)
 - Complaint, Pi, @pidotdev, 2026-09-09: “@pidotdev 切模型、闲置超5分钟、改早前消息——账单就这么静悄悄涨。能把 cache miss 和多花的钱弹出来，比事后对账单有用。” [source](https://twitter.com/2088999223241101312/status/2097655667414999375)

- **Free labels that quietly bill** ([Pricing and plan terms stated clearly and consistently](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/billing.pricing_clarity.md), [Usage meter visibility and accuracy](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/limits.usage_meter.md)). Features marked free or included turn out to draw down paid usage, and users discover it mid-cycle.
A Cursor user says a setup flow labelled free consumed a large slice of included premium usage in one run. A Cline user was told a model was free, then hit a not-free notice after a few reviews. Devin users warn each other that a model is free only locally, not in the cloud. Each case reads as a labelling failure, not a pricing one. The cost was real but undisclosed at the point of use.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Cursor, @cursor_ai, 2026-09-10: “cursor's "set up a cloud environment" flow is labeled "free." it burned 15.7m tokens of my included usage (opus/sonnet/gemini) in one run — took me from 49% to 79% premium usage with 3 days left in my cycle. @cursor_ai” [source](https://twitter.com/971910348138799105/status/2098043616740409643)
 - Complaint, Cline, @cline, 2026-09-18: “@cline how much is it free? you said muse is also free, but after few code reviews it said that it is not free :d” [source](https://twitter.com/88289857/status/2101025275878248802)
 - Complaint, Devin, @cognition, 2026-09-13: “@dnnskr91 @naseem9brev @cognition also, swe2 is free only when u are doing local dev, not in devin cloud, something to keep in mind” [source](https://twitter.com/1900337293564817408/status/2099268903973404856)

- **Names that mean something else** ([Pricing and plan terms stated clearly and consistently](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/billing.pricing_clarity.md)). Plan and quota names imply rules the product does not follow, and users only learn the real rule by running out.
Devin users say a 'daily quota' behaves like a burst cap, because staying within it every day still exhausts the weekly limit. One calls the terminology simply incorrect. A Grok Build user cannot work out why a Grok-branded bot requires a Cursor subscription. Defenders argue the names are clear, which shows the problem. The same label supports two readings, and the page does not settle which one applies.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Devin, r/windsurf, 2026-09-14: “then it should be named “burst quota” and not “daily quota”. the terminology seems incorrect.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/windsurf/comments/1wg520h/windsurf_quota_dont_make_sense/p9rh91k/)
 - Complaint, Devin, r/windsurf, 2026-09-14: “as a user, my understanding was daily quota is daily quota - if i stay within the limit of daily quota i should be able to get through the week. but that’s not the case. it’s more like i need to stay within 28% of daily quota everyday to get through the week. that’s not intuitive at all.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/windsurf/comments/1wg520h/windsurf_quota_dont_make_sense/p9rkooc/)
 - Complaint, Grok Build, r/cursor, 2026-09-09: “1. i use grok mainly for vdo work, with some vibe coding too. but when i want to use it like an ide, i don’t have tools such as codex, claude cowork, or antigravity, so i have to use grok build. 2. i also want to use grok bot, but it says i need a cursor subscription. i’m totally confused, especially because it’s called “grok” bot. so: * grok imagine → requires a grok subscription * grok bot → requires a cursor subscription is there another way? or am i misunderstanding the plans?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1wbjv4t/im_confused_about_the_grok_and_cursor_plans/)
 - Praise, Devin, r/windsurf, 2026-09-14: “wouldn't it be less intuitive if it was named “burst quota” - “daily” and “weekly” seem incredibly clear and intuitive that they refer to daily and weekly respectively?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/windsurf/comments/1wg520h/windsurf_quota_dont_make_sense/p9rk7oy/)

### Who stands out

- **OpenAI Codex (weaker)**. The only agent rated worse than peers here, as users say subscription allowances and the model actually served go unexplained.
Codex draws the most posts and the heaviest complaint load. Users say sub limits are undocumented, that model price ratios don't match real burn, and that the vendor does not disclose what runs behind the scenes. Codex users lead the requests for model and quantization disclosure and for lower prices. A minority push back that the site clearly states tier multipliers and prorates upgrades, but that defends the ratio, not the base unit.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-27: “and they can do whatever they please because it is so hard to measure or prove” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wrftcs/gpt6_sol_is_massive_downgrade/pcctgwm/)
 - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-19: “codex limits sucks. i'm going to demand a refund too for the robbery and upgrade claude instead. my $20 claude probably lasts longer or similar to $100 codex without even using astra. and the biggest problem is codex doesn't even disclose what shit it's cooking behing the scenes.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wk4tzr/codex_usage_is_horrible/paqin7r/)
 - Complaint, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-20: “it's casino tactics, and i'm sure openai has taken a bunch of financial hits just to keep ppl engaged with codex over alternatives. whenever i'm at 0% i dabble with open models and other harnesses and you just don't get the same thing for 20 bucks out there. i think part of this randomness rn, and not having a deterministic model, is also openai drip-feeding us the reality that we won't get that much usage for this little money long-term. tldr: ai usage subsidies are on the way out” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wkm8yl/reset_culture_is_terrible_for_subscription_users/paxeag0/)
 - Praise, OpenAI Codex, r/codex, 2026-09-27: “website clearly says its 5x. this post is a ragebait what’s the difference between the two pro tiers? both pro tiers include the same core capabilities. the main difference is usage allowance: **pro $100 unlocks 5x higher usage than plus**, while pro $200 unlocks 20x usage than plus.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wrr1z8/plans_are_no_longer_x5_or_x20_overall_limit/pcgq2hk/)

- **Claude Code (mixed)**. Users credit clear explanations of credits and per-task cost, yet still call the core plans ambiguous and hard to verify.
Praise lands on specific clarifications, such as how credits work and pricing framed per completed task. Complaints target the plans themselves. Users suspect quotas shift once they buy extra credits and say a cheaper model still routes them to paid credits. Claude Code users file the most requests for an accurate definition of plan usage multipliers, which is the gap behind both camps.
 Evidence:
 - Complaint, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-14: “> i just want some transparency. unfortunately this battle was lost in the early days of these plans. they've always been ambiguous and i don't see that changing anytime soon.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wfvv6j/sick_and_tired_of_bs_limits_not_a_rant_we_must/p9qjudc/)
 - Complaint, Claude Code, r/ClaudeCode, 2026-09-14: “i’ve been suspicious of adding usage credits, once they know you’re willing to pay, with zero transparency there is nothing stopping them dynamically adjusting your quota!! kill the account and start a new one.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wf9uuf/wth_is_going_on_with_claude_usage_limits/p9ptgug/)
 - Praise, Claude Code, @ClaudeDevs, 2026-09-25: “@claudedevs pricing per task is the honest unit. tokens are an implementation detail; an agent budget lives and dies on what a completed task actually costs. this is the number that matters to anyone running agents on real money.” [source](https://twitter.com/2102522178222923776/status/2103552377156485247)
 - Complaint, Claude Code, @ClaudeDevs, 2026-09-08: “@claudedevs anthropic: “fable 5.1 is cheaper.” users: “great, can we actually use it?” anthropic: “that’ll be usage credits.” 💀” [source](https://twitter.com/2086037086214447104/status/2097378077592650069)

- **OpenCode (mixed)**. Its dollar-denominated table wins fans for honesty, while the gap between docs and dashboard fuels the sharpest confusion on the page.
Fans point to a published token-rate table and say the allowance is honored exactly. One user calls it the only plan with stable, transparent usage, even through a model cut, because the cut was visible. Critics still want a plain token count per plan and question why some models get double credit value. The pricing unit is clear. Its application per model is not.
 Evidence:
 - Praise, OpenCode, r/opencode, 2026-09-21: “it’s not unclear. it’s very clear and it’s not disproportionately it’s right there in the table how much they charge for tokens in/out. full allowance is honored exactly as advertised. i get $60 of the model i use every month.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wm9bg1/monthly_limit_on_go/pb5m0eb/)
 - Praise, OpenCode, r/google_antigravity, 2026-09-22: “the only plan i've used so far that has been decent in terms of stable usage and transparency is opencode go's own. they had a recent debacle where deepseek's usage limits were cut with not much warning but at least you knew the usage was cut and could plan accordingly or use a different model. i'm currently on the ai pro plan but i may just get a opencode go account again. i don't mind paying but one thing i dislike is lack of transparency on what i'm getting.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1wmm9nj/what_is_going_on_it_drains_the_quotea_like_crazy/pbadgon/)
 - Complaint, OpenCode, r/opencode, 2026-09-01: “why cant they just give transparant pricing i.e. you plan includes xyz amount of tokens.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1w48fqo/meta_introduced_coding_plans_for_muse_spark_12/p75odvu/)
 - Complaint, OpenCode, r/opencodeCLI, 2026-09-03: “hmm, qwencloud is on opencode list in the name of “alibaba”. and, non-qwen models credits are the same value as the sub price (you get 6$ of deepseek the whole month for 6$ sub) while qwen models are double (before discount).” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencodeCLI/comments/1w5o7k5/my_review_of_a_few_providers_i_used_for_opencode/p7iqaso/)

- **GitHub Copilot (stronger)**. Pay-for-what-you-use pricing reads as honest to users, even those who find it expensive.
Users say there is no hidden charge, costs show on hover, and the old model was the vendor subsidising usage. A Kiro user holds up Copilot's direct API pricing as the honest alternative. The complaints that do exist are about which bundles include Copilot, not about what usage costs. Thin volume keeps this a signal rather than a verdict.
 Evidence:
 - Praise, GitHub Copilot, r/GithubCopilot, 2026-09-10: “no, they’re not overpriced. there’s no hidden dark force charging you extra high. it’s the first time you pay for what you use. the old github copilot model was that github was paying for your usage, not just you.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/GithubCopilot/comments/1wcj4ce/i_cancelled_my_github_copilot_subscription_are/p8yrbaa/)
 - Praise, GitHub Copilot, r/GithubCopilot, 2026-09-22: “<strict_link> i can see the costs when i hover and it is cheaper than opus 5.0” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/GithubCopilot/comments/1wnghuz/microsoft_did_it_again/pbetmnu/)
 - Complaint, Kiro, r/kiroIDE, 2026-09-15: “github copilots direct api pricing for models is looking pretty good about now >\_<, at least it's honest.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/kiroIDE/comments/1wgn268/gpt_56_luna_is_dead_in_kiro/p9x4m0c/)
 - Complaint, GitHub Copilot, r/GithubCopilot, 2026-09-02: “same on the business side. 365 subs don't include github copilot benefits, and partner subscriptions treat it as a separate benefit and not included in many of the lower subscriptions.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/GithubCopilot/comments/1w55i1f/does_microsoft_365_premium_somehow_grant_github/p7e6h9c/)

### Fine print

- Pricing pages draw posts mainly when they fail, so complaints dominate for every agent regardless of quality.
- Most agents have too few posts to separate from the pack; their cards are illustrative, not ranked.
- Posts about terms that actually changed belong to limits.allowance_change; some overlap with this criterion is unavoidable.

## Top requests

What users ask to add or change, most asked first. 522 author-weeks ask for something. Requests do not change the Feedback Score. Rule: A separate pass by Claude Sonnet 5 reads every counted post and extracts what the author asks the agent or its vendor to add or change, with the criteria it maps to and a short normalised wording; it does not touch the labels or the Feedback Score. Claude Opus 5.5 groups the wordings within each criterion (the first criterion the request maps to) into themes; code counts them. A theme counts distinct author-weeks that ask for it, per agent; across agents, one author-week per agent. Themes asked in fewer than 2 author-weeks, and requests that share no theme, are not shown. Examples: up to 3 posts per theme from different authors, without slurs, preferring posts of 60 to 450 characters, most recent first.

### 1. Published exact usage limits per plan

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-27, r/codex (Reddit): “$200 plan will give you "more usage than pro standard", which doesn't give any clear understanding of what you actually get.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wrr1z8/plans_are_no_longer_x5_or_x20_overall_limit/pcfbbmv/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-27, r/codex (Reddit): “1x usage ? 5x usage ?? 20x usage ??? this whole mystery subscription needs to stop. i went from being fine one a 1x plan to 5x to 20x and seeing the percentages vanish from simple tasks. it's the reason they removed the 5h window because it would be too obvious that you get fuck all usage nowadays.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wrr1z8/plans_are_no_longer_x5_or_x20_overall_limit/pcf2s1i/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-27, r/codex (Reddit): “i wouldn't mind them doing this if at the same time they would make the token count explicit per subscription. you can't have people pay a fixed amount of money for an arbitrary amount of tokens, a value that changes on a daily basis.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wrr1z8/plans_are_no_longer_x5_or_x20_overall_limit/pcexi2t/)

### 2. Lower model and usage prices

- Cursor, 2026-09-27, r/cursor (Reddit): “the issue is the price, they charge opus levels for a far worse model and even comparing to 4.6 its nearly double the price per task for a marginal improvement.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1wrktgc/am_i_the_only_one_who_thinks_grok_47_is_actually/pcdd6j0/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-26, r/codex (Reddit): “all openai needs to do is slash the price of astra by 50% — $5 for input and $25 for output.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wqjtee/20_codex_vs_claude_comparison_from_a/pc4qc0s/)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-23, r/codex (Reddit): “the only thing i don't like with claude code is its built in /btw command and the pricing. 20x claude code user here.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wnm9xi/gpt_just_got_mogged_by_claude_today/pbifmmr/)

### 3. Clearer general pricing information

- Claude Code, 2026-09-26, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “$34 for a 58 minute task is pretty wild when you're coming from a $20 subscription 😅 the 109m cache reads seem to explain a lot of it though. this is also why i think agent pricing needs to be shown in a way normal users can understand. token counts stop being intuitive once agents keep reading huge contexts repeatedly.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wqjjcf/claude_code_cloud_sessions_one_58minute_task/pc6e8eq/)
- Cursor, 2026-09-25, @cursor_ai (X): “@cursor_ai hey guys, you need to be more transparent about your billing and clearly explain what users can and cannot use. this month, i did not use any other models at all. i only used @grok 4.7, yet suddenly it shows that i’ve used everything and even owe an extra $11.30. that makes no sense to me. please make the usage limits, billing, and extra charges much clearer so users know exactly what they are paying for. @elonmusk @mntruell” [source](https://twitter.com/1562862287223803904/status/2103409078487708147)

### 4. Published per-model token rates

- Claude Code, 2026-09-25, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs why did it not have this to begin with. it would waste all your credits if the large task burned through the usage… forever. no transparency on what a token is. that’s the problem. #stryker336 it’s whatever they feel like” [source](https://twitter.com/1741904545716785153/status/2103574390302810154)

### 5. Disclosure of model served and quantization

- OpenCode, 2026-09-27, r/opencode (Reddit): “the cheepseek announcement is huge news and brings a lot of joy, no doubt about that, but way too much people are complaining here about an eventual undisclosed quantized version being served. please answer clearly to that.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wr8w3t/cheepseek_phase_2_full_precision/)

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-26, r/codex (Reddit): “do you mean the chatgpt app or the chatgpt normal thingy? it has been a bit weird today but i don't see it as gpt-6. we should really be honest and transparent about this” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wq55sw/opus_wipes_the_floor_with_sol/pc3je8z/)

### 6. Clear plan tier comparison and inclusions

- Claude Code, 2026-09-24, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs i'd put 'included in pro and max' right at the top of the launch post. leading with dollar credits makes it sound like a separate bill.” [source](https://twitter.com/2023150636771020800/status/2103132365497291245)

- OpenCode, 2026-09-22, r/opencode (Reddit): “hello guys! does anybody know what is the difference between opencode enterprise and go? pricing? is it possible to use go for a company in ai gateway, or is it against any t&c? [<strict_link>” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wmy0h9/opencode_enterprise_vs_go/)

### 7. Accurate definition of plan usage multipliers

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-25, r/codex (Reddit): “i mean that's the joke. no one knows how much a plus account is. we used to know what it was when it came out, then x5 kinda made sense. it is all so obscure and opaque they may as well call it x67,69, it's not like we can verify it” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wpfoxh/the_downhill_begins/pbvgl7r/)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-22, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “then why isn't it called 1.7x max plan? 20x is literally false advertising.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wn0xn9/max20x_is_now_just_15_times_better_than_max5x/pbcocfg/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-13, r/codex (Reddit): “i mean, it’s not illegal to use the same unit of measure. nearly every competitor in every industry does this - it’s why you buy a gallon of milk at the grocery store, 12oz sodas, etc. the main problem is that you never actually know what 5x and 20x equate to. at least a gallon of milk last week is still a gallon of milk today.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1we551s/this_nerf_is_getting_out_of_hand_look_at_this/p9hrwxu/)

### 8. Transparent disclosure of usage limit changes

- Claude Code, 2026-09-24, @ClaudeDevs (X): “hmmm still not clear! pretty sure not a single person assumed cloud sessions were using their rate limits previously so now we have token usage limits and cloud usage limits? and the new projects feature uses both? but recently added local projects also? but then that defeats the purpose of long running tasks with laptop shut right? this feels like another roundabout way of switching up the charges being veiled under poor communication” [source](https://twitter.com/264536947/status/2103032026580365634)
- Cursor, 2026-09-18, @cursor_ai (X): “@ixel111 @cursor_ai silent tier downgrades destroy trust faster than pricing hikes, clarity on model credits should be standard from day one” [source](https://twitter.com/1867552024575062016/status/2101019001849552938)

### 9. Advance notice of plan and policy changes

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-26, r/codex (Reddit): “what's the point of advertising a reset, and over 14 hours later, we haven't received a single one? not only do they now have inferior and quantized models, but absolutely shit communcation and transparency, getting worse by the day. and now, to top it of, the usage drains done in the background for months are gonna be spread across the month to make us buy more accounts? screw this company.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wqr9f3/weekly_limit_is_gone/pc686ss/)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-25, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs you guys really should get claude to do your coms, at this point i feel like it’s intentionally misleading” [source](https://twitter.com/1654510100361388035/status/2103333022590271787)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-23, r/codex (Reddit): “ah. wish they'd just put that in the announcements instead of making people ask on a random platform” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wo8fhw/okay_they_literally_cut_our_quota_by_half_gpt_6/pbmi8vv/)

### 10. Clear credit rules, order and expiry

- Claude Code, 2026-09-25, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@lydiahallie @broadsidecode @claudedevs why even claim the credit? just push it automatically to peoples plans (take their current spend, reduce it, show neg diff if <0, and leave their budget to compare against.)” [source](https://twitter.com/2101364222252744704/status/2103498050484453472)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-24, @ClaudeDevs (X): “not sure what the point of the @claudedevs cloud promotional credit is. by stacking it in front of the subscription and making it impossible to turn off all its doing is showing how quickly non-sub credits burn while then likely wasting the sub on the back end” [source](https://twitter.com/15249578/status/2103252481379872894)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-24, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs during the preview was this just free to claude subscribers? i'm wondering what specifically is the credit paying for: tokens and/or underlying compute? if it's tokens, why the change? if it's compute, do you have a page that shows the cost per minute/hour of usage?” [source](https://twitter.com/2745712448/status/2103234185939091824)

### 11. Published reproducible benchmarks and cost data

- Cursor, 2026-09-24, @cursor_ai (X): “@cursor_ai 7% we need to look at the weighted cost of each completed task. first, break down the input bill by cache status, then output it separately, while keeping an eye on the task success rate and tool error rate, in order to eliminate savings that come from multiple rounds of switching. will this set of a/b metrics and sample size be made public?” [source](https://twitter.com/1574567751494107136/status/2102980135288979516)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-22, r/codex (Reddit): “big yes, they should have to report their testing criteria and ensure reasonable reproducibility of their results.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wn5otx/official_benchmarks_should_be_retested_regularly/pbc7w07/)
- Cursor, 2026-09-21, @cursor_ai (X): “@cursor_ai the useful signal is not the leaderboard alone—cost, latency, and task fit matter. publishing those tradeoffs makes model choice actionable for teams shipping real workflows.” [source](https://twitter.com/1912261315290185728/status/2101958509172498648)

### 12. Explanation of shared usage pools

- OpenCode, 2026-09-21, r/opencode (Reddit): “so it's all a shared pool, which does make the usage amounts a bit confusing. (why list one as $60 worth of usage, another as $15?) but you can think of the usage more as a multiplier. i wrote a post that attempts to clarify this a bit: <strict_link>” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencode/comments/1wm9bg1/monthly_limit_on_go/pb53h9g/)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-16, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “this shared pool concept is so opaque. the wording on the website even says they use different limits now but they clearly don’t.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1whqo7x/fable_went_from_91_to_61_over_night/pa77yxo/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-16, r/codex (Reddit): “\-\_\_\_- well that’s good to know, they should document that. feels misleading as it’s two separate products..and usage buckets afaik. or rather..was.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1why5do/are_codex_limits_now_tied_to_chatgpt/pa74b0m/)

- Complaint, 2026-09-27, r/codex (Reddit): “then nobody will pay api costs and they go bankrupt since enterprises are their main customers. honestly $500 subscriptions are just a generally bad idea right now as they are already being bashed for nerfing existing usage. the optics will look terrible without addressing that issue and the issue of being behind opus 5.5 first.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wr1oir/they_are_aware_and_working_on_it_apparently_just/pca4b8l/)

- Complaint, 2026-09-27, r/codex (Reddit): “considering the plans have always been vague, even when it was 5x and 20x, 5x of 'not specified' and 20x of 'not specified' mean jack shit and can keep fluctuating as much as they'd like. this is why none of them publish how many api equivalent you get to begin with so they can cut it and gaslight you as much as they want. sadly, these last week for oai has been a huge l, between sol/luna 6, and opus 5.5 absolutely rawdogging them, now this stand” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wr27ai/is_the_200_plan_not_20x_anymore/pcatm3t/)

### Kiro
