# Reminders and notifications reach the user correctly (`auto.reminders`)

Feedback Bench, personal agents, built 2026-10-19, window 2026-08-31 to 2026-10-18. Web page: https://feedbackbench.com/#/criterion/auto.reminders

Area: [Running on its own](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/auto.md)

**Definition.** Whether reminders and push notifications are delivered at the right time, about the right things, and in a sensible volume.

**Boundary.** Not this: see [Unprompted suggestions, insights and check-ins](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/auto.proactive.md) when the agent volunteers new suggestions; see [Scheduled recurring tasks and daily briefings run](https://feedbackbench.com/criteria/auto.routines.md) when a scheduled task itself does not run.

Rated user-weeks, all agents: 549. Complaint share: 21%.

## The brief

Written by large language models from this page's numbers and the posts it quotes, then checked: every number in the text is in the build. Interpretation, not measurement.

Muse is the better of the two agents with enough posts to rank on reminders. Its users praise how reminders arrive more often than they complain, and it sits above the category norm. Reminders are a small concern for users of personal agents: they are the 45th most rated of 53 criteria. Grok Bot ranks 2nd of 2 and sits below the category norm. Its users say alerts never reach the phone, or reach every device at once. Grok Bot users write 45% of the category's complaints here.

### What separates the best from the rest

No agent ranks high, and none ranks low. Users of the two agents that rank give different reports. Muse users mostly praise their reminders, with 282 praise to 42 complaints. When they do complain, they describe too many pings and reminders that fire late. Grok Bot users are more divided, with 71 praise to 51 complaints. They describe push alerts that never arrive, and the same alert buzzing on the phone, tablet and laptop together.

- **Ranks high**: no agent
- **Ranks low**: no agent

## How it breaks

Rule: A separate pass sorts complaints into failure modes. For each criterion with at least 30 complaining user-weeks, a large language model reads 150 complaint posts drawn at random and names 4 to 8 failure modes; a second large language model then puts every complaint post on that criterion in one mode, or in Other when it fits none. Modes are fixed once named, and new posts are sorted into them each week. A mode counts distinct user-weeks with a complaint in it, per agent; across agents, one user-week per agent. Modes do not change the labels or the Feedback Score. Examples: up to 3 posts per mode from different users, chosen and checked as receipts are.

The largest failure is push notifications that never arrive, even with notifications turned on. It accounts for 20% of complaining user-weeks, and Grok Bot users write 65% of it. Alerts that buzz on every device belong almost entirely to Grok Bot, at 92%. Reminders with stale or wrong content come mostly from Muse users, at 86%. Muse users also write the most complaints about too many low-value notifications.

113 complaining user-weeks.

| Failure mode | User-weeks | Posts | Agents (user-weeks) | Definition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Push notifications silently never arrive | 23 | 23 | Grok Bot 15, Muse 6, Hermes Agent 2 | Covers push or in-app alerts that don't reach the device at all or only arrive sometimes, even with notifications turned on (for example on Android, when the app is closed or backgrounded, or when no delivery route is set up); a reminder that fires at the wrong time is out. |
| Too many low-value notifications | 21 | 21 | Muse 10, Grok Bot 5, OpenClaw 3, Hermes Agent 2, ChatGPT Dots 1 | Covers floods of pings for trivial events, very frequent status updates, duplicate or repeated updates, and the agent being overly proactive, so users end up muting it; notifications the user explicitly asked to stop, and ads, are out. |
| Scheduled reminders fire late, wrong, or never | 20 | 20 | Muse 9, Grok Bot 5, OpenClaw 2, ChatGPT Dots 1, Hark 1, Instinct 1, Poke 1 | Covers reminders, alarms, and scheduled jobs the user asked for that trigger late, at a random or wrong-timezone time, or not at all, because the agent forgets or schedules them badly; general push delivery failures that affect every message are out. |
| Missing notification channels and controls | 15 | 15 | Grok Bot 8, Muse 5, ChatGPT Dots 1, OpenClaw 1 | Covers missing basics such as alerts when a task finishes, email or text channels, alarms, custom sounds, per-bot or pinned-only filtering, and reminders sent to other people; complaints about existing notifications not working are out. |
| Same alert buzzes on every device | 12 | 13 | Grok Bot 11, ChatGPT Dots 1 | Covers notifications sent to the phone, tablet, and laptop together, or not cleared once read on another device, while the user is actively working on one device; total volume on a single device is out. |
| Stale or inaccurate reminder content | 7 | 7 | Muse 6, Grok Bot 1 | Covers reminders and alerts about tasks already done, emails already read, outdated information, or false and misleading content; timing failures where the content itself is correct are out. |
| Notifications continue after user says stop | 5 | 6 | Muse 3, Grok Bot 2 | Covers reminders or alerts that keep coming after the user told the agent to stop, deleted the bot, or uninstalled it, including future notifications the agent never removed from its schedule; volume complaints with no stop request are out. |
| Promotional or onboarding pushes disguised as notifications | 3 | 3 | Muse 2, Hark 1 | Covers the agent using push notifications for unsolicited ads, tips on how to use the app, or engagement nudges the user never asked for; noisy but task-related updates are out. |
| Other | 7 | 7 | Grok Bot 4, ChatGPT Dots 1, Muse 1, OpenClaw 1 | Complaints that fit none of the modes above. |

- Muse, 2026-09-24, Play Store (Play Store): “i tried it, don't like the intrusive nature of alerts and how much access you are giving it to everything it does. there is absolutely nothing transparent about how your information is used without digging deep into terms of use which after reading ahould scare anyone who uses it. basically meta is responsible for nothing and can and will use your data.” [source](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.facebook.aura)

## Top requests

What users ask to add or change, most asked first. 102 user-weeks ask for something. Requests do not change the Feedback Score. Rule: A separate pass by a large language model reads every counted post and extracts what the user asks the agent or its vendor to add or change, with the criteria it maps to and a short normalised wording; it does not touch the labels or the Feedback Score. A large language model groups the wordings within each criterion (the first criterion the request maps to) into themes, and a second pass merges themes that ask for the same change under different criteria; a merged theme sits under the criterion most of its requests map to, and code counts it once. A theme counts distinct user-weeks that ask for it, per agent; across agents, one user-week per agent. Themes asked in fewer than 2 user-weeks, and requests that share no theme, are not shown. Examples: up to 3 posts per theme from different users, without slurs: whole posts of 60 to 450 characters with at least 8 words beyond handles and links, posts of at most 280 characters first, then the newest.

## Posts

Receipts rule: Up to 5 praise and 5 complaint posts per area and 3 per criterion. Each is a whole post of 60 to 450 characters (700 for areas) with at least 8 words beyond handles and links, that judges the criterion, whose labels are all praise or all complaint, and that contains no slur. Posts that touch the fewest criteria come first, then posts of at most 280 characters, then the newest. A second large language model reads the first 3 candidates per slot and keeps a post only if it clearly praises, or clearly complains about, the agent on that criterion. Links and personal details removed by the source show as marks such as [link].
