# Subagents, parallel agents and orchestrators (`work.multi_agent_orchestration`)

Feedback Bench, coding agents, built 2026-10-19, window 2026-08-31 to 2026-10-18. Web page: https://feedbackbench.com/coding-agents/#/criterion/work.multi_agent_orchestration

Area: [Doing the work](https://feedbackbench.com/coding-agents/criteria/work.md)

**Definition.** How the agent spawns, delegates to, monitors and coordinates subagents or parallel sessions. Covers polling loops and the wrong choice of subagents.

**Boundary.** Not this: see [Automatic model routing and fallback](https://feedbackbench.com/coding-agents/criteria/models.routing_auto.md) for the model a subagent runs on. Not this: see [Git commits, branches and sync](https://feedbackbench.com/coding-agents/criteria/work.git_workflow.md) for merge conflicts between sessions.

Rated user-weeks, all agents: 4128. Complaint share: 36%.

## The brief

Written by large language models from this page's numbers and the posts it quotes, then checked: every number in the text is in the build. Interpretation, not measurement.

Amp and Claude Code handle subagents best. Their users describe one lead session that splits work into threads or a team of agents and keeps that work organised. Users rate this often: it is the 7th most rated of 63 criteria for AI coding agents. OpenAI Codex ranks low, 10th of 10 and worse than the category norm. Its users write 39% of the category's complaints here. Pi, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and Google Antigravity also rank low.

### What separates the best from the rest

Users of the agents that rank high describe a lead session that starts threads, child machines or a team of agents. It passes along the details each one needs. Users can also set different models for the orchestrator and the workers. Users of the agents that rank low describe child sessions that get stuck, with their messages never processed. They also describe orchestrators that cannot start subagents on some models, keep checking on running work, or start several agents for small prompts and use up quota.

 - Claude Code, 2026-10-18, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “i've moved to using a single session that manages a team of agents to do what needs to be done, makes things a lot cleaner to deal with” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x9a6kc/do_you_guys_just_use_one_chat_per_project_in/phjmzdv/)
 - Amp, 2026-10-15, @AmpCode (X): “one way @ampcode and orbs feel like the future: in a new thread, said "audit the code base for this old api usage, group the code into areas, create linear issues for each area, and spin up a thread to fix each one" and i have a whole swarm of threads just ... doing it.” [source](https://twitter.com/5444392/status/2110838620420735467)

 - GitHub Copilot, 2026-09-08, @GitHubCopilot (X): “gpt-6 astra in the @githubcopilot app really doesn't work well with inter-session communication, all the sessions where i have tried it somehow get stuck, with messages from child sessions getting queued and never processed in the parent session [link]” [source](https://twitter.com/161137627/status/2097346077242368095)
 - OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-14, r/codex (Reddit): “bro they are sooooo creative at finding new ways to poll. in my codex fork i disabled a ton of tools like function.wait and i have scripts for everything. the llm finds ways around it. i have resorted to entropy detection. my analytics on codex are pretty detailed.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x5zcb6/2_days_on_sol_61_and_usage_is_gone/pgryqgi/)

## How it breaks

Rule: A separate pass sorts complaints into failure modes. For each criterion with at least 30 complaining user-weeks, a large language model reads 150 complaint posts drawn at random and names 4 to 8 failure modes; a second large language model then puts every complaint post on that criterion in one mode, or in Other when it fits none. Modes are fixed once named, and new posts are sorted into them each week. A mode counts distinct user-weeks with a complaint in it, per agent; across agents, one user-week per agent. Modes do not change the labels or the Feedback Score. Examples: up to 3 posts per mode from different users, chosen and checked as receipts are.

The largest failure mode is agents that start many subagents for work one agent could do. It makes up 24% of complaining user-weeks. Claude Code has 48% of it and OpenAI Codex 38%. Wasteful polling of running subagents belongs mostly to one agent: OpenAI Codex has 71% of it. OpenAI Codex also has the largest share of complaints about wrong model choices for subagents and about orchestrators that ignore instructions to delegate.

1596 complaining user-weeks.

| Failure mode | User-weeks | Posts | Agents (user-weeks) | Definition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spawning too many subagents for the task | 386 | 407 | Claude Code 184, OpenAI Codex 148, Cursor 13, Google Antigravity 11, Devin 9, OpenCode 9, Pi 8, GitHub Copilot 2, Kiro 2 | The agent or a multi-agent mode starts many subagents or parallel sessions for work that one agent could do, often a simple task, and burns usage or time with no better result; picking the wrong model tier for those subagents is a separate mode. |
| Orchestrator failing to delegate as instructed | 194 | 205 | OpenAI Codex 83, Claude Code 61, OpenCode 17, Google Antigravity 12, Pi 10, Cursor 6, Amp 1, GitHub Copilot 1, Devin 1, Factory 1, Zed 1 | The agent ignores instructions or its own plan to use subagents and does the work inline, runs fewer workers than it was told to, or drifts away from delegating over a long session; spawning too many agents is out. |
| Wrong or overridden model choice for subagents | 192 | 204 | OpenAI Codex 95, Claude Code 59, OpenCode 14, Cursor 7, Google Antigravity 6, Pi 6, GitHub Copilot 2, Factory 2, Devin 1 | The orchestrator gives subagents a model that doesn't fit the job, such as an expensive flagship where a cheap one would do, a model the user didn't ask for, or a weak worker whose output keeps getting sent back, or the harness won't let the user set the subagent model or effort; spawning too many subagents is out. |
| Opaque visibility into subagents and parallel sessions | 163 | 175 | OpenAI Codex 69, Claude Code 58, Cursor 10, Google Antigravity 5, Pi 5, Devin 3, Factory 3, OpenCode 3, Amp 2, Warp 2, Cline 1, Conductor 1, GitHub Copilot 1 | The user can't see what subagents or parallel sessions are doing (their model, edits, messages to each other, pending approvals or progress), or sessions can't find and message each other reliably, which makes oversight and coordination hard; hangs and kill or stop failures are out. |
| Parallel agents clobbering shared files or resources | 130 | 141 | Claude Code 62, OpenAI Codex 33, Cursor 15, Zed 5, Google Antigravity 3, OpenCode 3, Amp 2, Devin 2, Factory 2, Pi 2, Cline 1 | Subagents or parallel sessions edit the same files, worktree, branch, device, port or browser session without coordinating, so changes get overwritten, merges get messy, PRs get duplicated or jobs hang, and the orchestrator often reports success anyway; a single agent's own mistakes are out. |
| Stuck subagents that cannot be steered or stopped | 119 | 124 | OpenAI Codex 38, Claude Code 31, OpenCode 18, Google Antigravity 10, Pi 7, Cursor 6, GitHub Copilot 3, Devin 3, Amp 1, Cline 1, Factory 1 | Subagents hang, sleep, crash, get spawned dead or block the main agent, and the user or parent can't stop, resume, steer or kill one of them without stopping everything (or one agent's action shuts down others); visibility gaps without control problems are out. |
| Wasteful polling of running subagents | 116 | 131 | OpenAI Codex 82, Claude Code 23, Cursor 5, Google Antigravity 3, OpenCode 1, Pi 1, Zed 1 | While subagents work, the orchestrator keeps checking their status, waiting on them or reading their output streams at short intervals, paying for input tokens again each time when it could end its turn or wait; one-time startup costs are out. |
| Bloated or missing context handed to subagents | 108 | 116 | Claude Code 52, OpenAI Codex 32, Pi 8, Google Antigravity 6, OpenCode 4, Cursor 3, Amp 1, Cline 1, GitHub Copilot 1 | At spawn time a subagent gets the orchestrator's entire history copied into it, or gets too little context, so it re-reads files, gets the task wrong or costs a lot to start; costs that come from polling later are out. |
| Other | 287 | 290 | OpenAI Codex 109, Claude Code 80, OpenCode 22, Google Antigravity 19, Pi 17, Cursor 13, Devin 7, Amp 5, GitHub Copilot 5, Conductor 2, Factory 2, Kiro 2, Zed 2, Cline 1, Warp 1 | Complaints that fit none of the modes above. |

#### Spawning too many subagents for the task

- Claude Code, 2026-10-15, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “disable subagents. claude is horrible at managing its own subagents will often burn through tokens repeating the same tasks over and over. only enable sub agents on local projects with purpose, but don't trust claude to do it. this is probably what is causing it.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x6j064/did_opus_55_just_get_more_expensive/pgxpbiw/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-15, r/codex (Reddit): “i got to 15 using 50 astra agents, it really struggles to run swarms like opus does. launched an opus swarm last reset and it created 1000 before it said it hit a limit.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x6e5os/reset_just_landed/pgukp59/)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-10, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “happened to me once, i allowed up to 3 agents at the same time, i checked background tasks and noticed 7. asked claude why i see 7, told me that i allowed 3 agents, but never specified if the agents can spawn sub-agents to help them” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x2h2u4/opus_55_spawned_17_subagents/pf41vrf/)

#### Orchestrator failing to delegate as instructed

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-12, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app (X): “@buildwithhassan (1) *if* properly orchestrated, it can cook, *but* codex (cli), in its current default state is, imho, rigged against proper orchestration. what i mean is that without a custom, hence brittle setup, there is no prompting that will keep the primary agent” [source](https://twitter.com/1273759182748033025/status/2109712902731248114)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-10, r/codex (Reddit): “but i still have to tell the dot what i want it to tell the agents to do in my projects. what's the point of the middleman?” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x2mgjh/28_days_i_was_hoping_the_stakes_would_be_higher/pf3oxv2/)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-08, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “if i had a job complex enough where i need subagents i'd want to define the rules manually. not a common situation for me. just letting claude handle it isn't working for me.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x0kzbh/haiku_55_is_40x_cheaper_than_opus_55_your_explore/pepyunz/)

#### Wrong or overridden model choice for subagents

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-10, r/codex (Reddit): “i've finally made the switch to not allowing 6.1 sol to orchestrate anymore (it led to a lot of wasted sessions chasing hyper-specific issues with little return), now i'm passing subagent work to it from opus 5.5 and it's going much better already” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x1v7vk/luna_calling_out_61_sol_for_trying_to_cheat/pf0to0o/)
- Cursor, 2026-10-07, @cursor_ai (X): “@cursor_ai @leerob can y’all please look into the issue where the orchestrator agent cannot spawn subagents from certain models in projects? i can’t use glm 5.3 flash for example unless i go into that agent and manually switch to it.” [source](https://twitter.com/1675943202900287488/status/2107699867594449156)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-02, r/codex (Reddit): “i looked into it before making this, it doesn't fully support custom model efforts for spawned subagents and full native subagent control and interface as i wanted, at least as far as i could tell.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wvzbqh/opus_and_sonnet_in_codex/pdgj6xq/)

#### Opaque visibility into subagents and parallel sessions

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-11, r/codex (Reddit): “my dot and my agents can’t talk to each other, and they can’t tell me why, so i don’t know” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x1x41d/is_it_me_or_has_dot_61_astra_been_lobotomized/pf65t3k/)

#### Parallel agents clobbering shared files or resources

- Claude Code, 2026-10-10, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “i accomplish nothing too because the agents were fighting for the computer” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x2h2u4/opus_55_spawned_17_subagents/pf57f4i/)

- Cursor, 2026-10-08, r/cursor (Reddit): “don't merge on the parent's ready. it assigned the same file twice and never saw the second write. i stop if the assignment list already has a path in two subagents.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1x0jpax/cursor_multitask_useful_or_useless/pem1suc/)

#### Stuck subagents that cannot be steered or stopped

- Claude Code, 2026-10-18, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “lately i have been getting "error: subagents was explicitly stopped by the user and cannot be resumed".” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x8nb3w/day_22_continue_can_respawn_subagents_ask_claude/phg76ek/)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-17, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “yeah it doesn't repeat but it does have to check all the files for progress to remake the subagents, they even have the auto resume with subagents system already but it only works when you run out of session usage and it has to continue automatically when reset.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x8h7ix/is_there_an_intended_way_to_continue_a_session/phcu5qe/)

#### Wasteful polling of running subagents

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-14, r/codex (Reddit): “bro they are sooooo creative at finding new ways to poll. in my codex fork i disabled a ton of tools like function.wait and i have scripts for everything. the llm finds ways around it. i have resorted to entropy detection. my analytics on codex are pretty detailed.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x5zcb6/2_days_on_sol_61_and_usage_is_gone/pgryqgi/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-12, r/codex (Reddit): “some other reddit posts. i tested your fork with a longer running command, it still polls constantly btw. even with your instructions in agents.md i can see the tokens counting up and the agent replying with "the tree command is still running" and similar messages periodically” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x4bcce/how_do_i_stop_codex_cli_wasting_tokens_when_it/pfio4we/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-03, r/codex (Reddit): “i remember there was an issue where the orchestrator kept polling the completion of the subagent on codex. and sometimes when the orchestrator launch the subagent, it just mentions "you are luna subagent" but the underlying model is the same orchestrator model i.e. sol.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wwvqvs/someone_explain_to_me_how_to_use_subagents_like/pdp5m4c/)

#### Bloated or missing context handed to subagents

- Claude Code, 2026-10-10, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs waitlist speed is easy. the real bottleneck is context bleed across projects once you have 10+ running in parallel.” [source](https://twitter.com/2097331229825904640/status/2108889089986683290)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-10, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs @bcherny i trully cannot believe there is no way to create agent profiles with their own skills, instructions, connections and knowledge, you you dont have to spawn a vanilla claude session and instead a specialized agent for that task” [source](https://twitter.com/1710605415900123136/status/2108886733211476221)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-09, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@charlie[phone] @claudedevs that's the expensive part — subagents keep executing blindly off a stale plan while the lead has to replan everything. when agents talk to each other and coordinate in one shared chat, a bad plan gets caught and corrected way earlier. ## Top requests

What users ask to add or change, most asked first. 729 user-weeks ask for something. Requests do not change the Feedback Score. Rule: A separate pass by a large language model reads every counted post and extracts what the user asks the agent or its vendor to add or change, with the criteria it maps to and a short normalised wording; it does not touch the labels or the Feedback Score. A large language model groups the wordings within each criterion (the first criterion the request maps to) into themes, and a second pass merges themes that ask for the same change under different criteria; a merged theme sits under the criterion most of its requests map to, and code counts it once. A theme counts distinct user-weeks that ask for it, per agent; across agents, one user-week per agent. Themes asked in fewer than 2 user-weeks, and requests that share no theme, are not shown. Examples: up to 3 posts per theme from different users, without slurs: whole posts of 60 to 450 characters with at least 8 words beyond handles and links, posts of at most 280 characters first, then the newest.

### 1. Subagent activity visibility

- Claude Code, 2026-10-15, @ClaudeDevs (X): “hey @claudedevs can we get the stats back in the new subagent view? i loved the fact that i could see the model being used, token usage, amount of tool calls etc. [link]” [source](https://twitter.com/2091447861942616064/status/2110664632335487047)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-10, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs the phased plan is the interesting part. for real work, i’d want to see each agent’s task and intermediate result, so it’s easy to catch a workflow going off track.” [source](https://twitter.com/2060554585643843585/status/2108923660920840671)
- Cursor, 2026-10-10, @cursor_ai (X): “tried @claudedevs projects. @cursor_ai has nothing to worry about. yet. -> no repo checkout in the main session: every codebase question = a cloud session -> black box: reads my skills/playbooks? runs my subagents? no idea but right direction though. @addyosmani roadmap? 🙏” [source](https://twitter.com/2578930976/status/2108897888537571339)

### 2. Messaging between agent sessions

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-12, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “good idea, i've been using mcp mode to allow claude to call codex. i wish there was some way to expand the session to session messaging setup that claude has into other harnesses. messaging feels more natural for agents checking something with another session and it's two-way.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x46596/i_built_a_claude_code_mod_that_hands_work_to/pfh543i/)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-11, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “persistent context (doesn't disappear after finished task), i believe, and the ability to "talk" between them.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x2k7dz/if_you_dont_have_access_to_claude_code_projects/pf5n4xc/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-08, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “true, for a quick one-off that's the simplest. it starts a separate codex run though, not the thread i have open. i wanted the two sessions i'm actually working in to talk to each other, in both directions.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wz6sr8/i_was_the_clipboard_between_claude_code_and_codex/pep7lcd/)

### 3. Built-in first-class subagent orchestration

- Pi, 2026-10-10, r/PiCodingAgent (Reddit): “its one of the best arguments for features moving into the core. still want to be able to toggle things on or off, but one subagent api would allow deeper integration without reimplementing features” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wzgr8b/pioptchat_never_compact_again_endless_chat_as_a/pf4jdqp/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-10, r/codex (Reddit): “a single dot is not helpful. i need a group of dots, like grok bot” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x1v6je/tibo_shares_day_5_update/pf00l44/)
- Amp, 2026-10-10, @AmpCode (X): “the fact that i built a ductape version of this with @ampcode + puck + github issues + hermes is really annoying. i love building, but there comes a time when inventing my own tools to use on my own cuts into time i need to spend on paying projects. [link] [link]” [source](https://twitter.com/1898512810272763904/status/2109018108816199886)

### 4. Multiple parallel sessions

- Cursor, 2026-10-16, @cursor_ai (X): “@poteto and @cursor_ai team please make @bot better at multi-tasking, it's getting frustrating to deal with repeating myself all the time!” [source](https://twitter.com/8767922/status/2111156066923004249)
- Cursor, 2026-10-15, @cursor_ai (X): “@sualehasif996 @mntruell @cursor_ai will you guys let me make models "compete" on a task so i can give them the same concept & see what they all come up with at the same time (useful in ideation)” [source](https://twitter.com/19925326/status/2110761566312558715)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-14, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@joshua_wd @claudedevs yes it would make it so easy to work on multiple projects now i just have new sessions opened in dozens of new windows” [source](https://twitter.com/1403063142960316418/status/2110485120461488349)

### 5. Event-driven completion instead of polling

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-12, r/codex (Reddit): “i usually just type in the chat that the polling or constant checking is wasting tokens and please up the wait time.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x4bcce/how_do_i_stop_codex_cli_wasting_tokens_when_it/pfifayv/)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-09-27, r/codex (Reddit): “i also came up with a patch, no bugs and only cost 5 tokens! don’t poll subagents” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1wrw3wy/1000_lines_348_bn_tok_393_subagents_42_pro20/pch38sj/)
- Claude Code, 2026-09-24, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “don't set active polling of my simulation runs with the multiagent team that go overnight...” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wp23t8/what_rule_in_your_claudemd_clearly_has_a_backstory/pbskfgc/)

### 6. Orchestrate other vendors' agents and models

- Devin, 2026-10-17, @cognition (X): “@scarletkc @klarkxy @cognition i hope the fusion division can break down some tasks similar to [link] k3) for the frontend and the gpt subscription for gpt to write and review code.” [source](https://twitter.com/1685511781656207361/status/2111394615706481098)
- Cursor, 2026-10-12, r/cursor (Reddit): “im using both as well and my grokbots pop prompts & files into zips that i drop into claude then they check the outputs and make adjustments. i love it and if they could manage cursor and claude the same way id feel like the king of the world” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1x3r2hw/anyone_still_using_cursor_next_to_claude_code/pfdu8jp/)
- Cursor, 2026-10-09, @cursor_ai (X): “@cursor_ai @bot for context, i run a small team of grok bots: an engineer that writes prs, a qa bot that reviews and tests them, and a cto bot that signs off. we're on github today, but i'd love to move everything to cursor origin. [link]” [source](https://twitter.com/2202766427/status/2108654484360454193)

### 7. Supervisor session managing other sessions

- Claude Code, 2026-10-16, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs we need a manager. it is getting hard managing so many projects at the same time.” [source](https://twitter.com/625480492/status/2111082796970074145)
- Zed, 2026-10-15, @zeddotdev (X): “interesting reality i live in now i don’t use any standalone terminal app - only @zeddotdev as i am often in a project that has files or is project related. i basically need the idea of @herdrdev in zed ❤️” [source](https://twitter.com/3091161/status/2110871499804745934)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-14, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “i agree. when i heard about it i was excited and then i realized the coordinator is a low quality chat session. claude code needs some sort of management layer added to it but this isn’t it” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x5n490/how_to_use_claude_code_projects_effectively/pgsp144/)

### 8. Structured handoff receipts and audit trail

- Claude Code, 2026-10-17, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@preem1nent @claudedevs saw you already put session ids in the docs. could you add the parent id and a one-line 'doing / blocked / done' status there too? have each child update its own note. that'd give you one place to see what's still running without opening every thread.” [source](https://twitter.com/1093746022616948736/status/2111301734073323822)
- Factory, 2026-10-13, @FactoryAI (X): “@factoryai if an environment rebuild lands mid-mission, do replacement workers stay on the original snapshot? recording the snapshot id and tested commit with each result would help separate a code regression from a dependency change on retry.” [source](https://twitter.com/2105299416261500928/status/2109982272929792417)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-10, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs can a completed run surface failed child threads directly, without a separate event scan?” [source](https://twitter.com/189095010/status/2108885361854148649)

### 9. Configurable multi-model agent teams with roles

- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-14, r/codex (Reddit): “they can flex on solving 1000 human-years of math problems no one asked for, but can't make a better app that lets you remote from one windows desktop to another or a ui to manage agent personas and agent orchestration graphs directly within codex” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x1txde/21k_open_issues_over_half_tagged_app_what_exactly/pgmm69a/)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-10, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs a whole fleet of agents and nobody gave the lead a personality file.” [source](https://twitter.com/2072865652696662016/status/2109047157026394408)

### 10. Configurable cap on subagent count and spend

- Claude Code, 2026-10-11, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs the lead-agent-writes-a-plan-then-fans-out model is the right shape for orchestrators. question is who owns the spend policy when phase 3 spawns 200 agents and each one can call a paid tool. runtime guardrails or it's just a fancy for-loop.” [source](https://twitter.com/97014191/status/2109263992170631541)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-10, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “make an agent limit. very easy instructional you can have it also ask you when you want over "x" agents please verify with me. save as a memory or skill.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x2h2u4/opus_55_spawned_17_subagents/pf3yhpr/)

### 11. Conflict prevention for parallel agents

- Claude Code, 2026-10-15, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs i’d love the overview to flag when two sessions are changing the same files. knowing where work overlaps would make parallel sessions easier to trust, especially before merging the results.” [source](https://twitter.com/3749904314/status/2110773061909926104)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-15, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@maxforai @claudedevs what i'm most afraid of in a multi-conversation is not being unable to manage it, but not knowing which window is secretly modifying main behind my back.” [source](https://twitter.com/2076716061479899136/status/2110554551304724765)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-15, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs parallel sessions and optional worktrees sound useful. when two sessions share a folder without worktrees, how are overlapping file edits surfaced before one session overwrites the other?” [source](https://twitter.com/716190923026259968/status/2110551567430750441)

### 12. Steer running subagents

- Cursor, 2026-10-05, @cursor_ai (X): “@cursor_ai after temporarily changing the target, will the background sub-tasks continue to run according to the old target? it would be more reassuring if this part could be canceled or updated together.” [source](https://twitter.com/1736348232815656960/status/2107152607928328380)
- Claude Code, 2026-10-02, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs atleasf now can we directly tak to subagents and pin parts of a chat??” [source](https://twitter.com/939355470996815873/status/2105890583298384252)
- OpenCode, 2026-10-01, r/opencodeCLI (Reddit): “have opencode research how to carry that feature over to the cli / tui based on openchamber's implementation. there's definitely a way” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/opencodeCLI/comments/1wva8z2/the_only_features_from_claude_code_that_i_miss_in/pdafvbe/)

## Posts

Receipts rule: Up to 5 praise and 5 complaint posts per area and 3 per criterion. Each is a whole post of 60 to 450 characters (700 for areas) with at least 8 words beyond handles and links, that judges the criterion, whose labels are all praise or all complaint, and that contains no slur. Posts that touch the fewest criteria come first, then posts of at most 280 characters, then the newest. A second large language model reads the first 3 candidates per slot and keeps a post only if it clearly praises, or clearly complains about, the agent on that criterion. Links and personal details removed by the source show as marks such as [link].

### Amp

- Praise, 2026-10-16, @AmpCode (X): “@ampcode blew my mind a little by _nesting_ a thread. agent did a series of tasks then asked how to continue. i typed "we'll start with #80 but in a new orb to pick up the merged changes". - Complaint, 2026-10-02, @AmpCode (X): “@jkudish @thorstenball @ampcode just feels weird that the general orchestration plan slowly fades over the course of several hours. suddenly realizing that it isn't even delegating to child threads at all starts to just do everything itself.” [source](https://twitter.com/7566122/status/2105830588813087149)
- Complaint, 2026-09-24, @AmpCode (X): “@sqs @ampcode claude code projects seem more intelligent about distributing work to threads and coordinating the order of git changes between threads itself” [source](https://twitter.com/132882990/status/2103057491466612746)

### Claude Code

- Complaint, 2026-10-15, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “disable subagents. claude is horrible at managing its own subagents will often burn through tokens repeating the same tasks over and over. only enable sub agents on local projects with purpose, but don't trust claude to do it. this is probably what is causing it.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x6j064/did_opus_55_just_get_more_expensive/pgxpbiw/)

### OpenCode

### Cursor

- Praise, 2026-10-08, r/cursor (Reddit): “i use it as much as possible. in plan mode i tell it i'll be using multitask mode so to plan according to that. i feel it does better as the ai is much more verbose in prompting the subagent than i would be, and the context never gets large so it stays on task” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1x0jpax/cursor_multitask_useful_or_useless/peluoq9/)
- Praise, 2026-10-07, @cursor_ai (X): “@chsrbrts @cursor_ai projects is the first cursor feature that treats the agent like a team member instead of a tool. coordinator plus sub-agents with real ownership is how actual teams ship. how much of your prod pr review has moved to the ios app?” [source](https://twitter.com/1694042016252874752/status/2107820934769815946)

### GitHub Copilot

- Praise, 2026-10-10, r/GithubCopilot (Reddit): “your tools should never be locked to a single harness nowadays. rewrite and repackage as plugins to share with your team. then switch to the github copilot app. the nested session orchestration beats the crap out of subagents. canvas are little hosted web apps and great for customization too.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/GithubCopilot/comments/1x2b0pr/the_harness_is_absolute_trash/pf0ynbx/)
- Praise, 2026-09-04, @GitHubCopilot (X): “@normandeveloper @githubcopilot i remember me asking @pierceboggan if having the app while they have the awesome @code won’t confuse people, i guess i was confused back then and didn’t even know it the orchestration is the best feature there imho it’s almost a full agent factory without overdoing it” [source](https://twitter.com/36475277/status/2095997481876066652)
- Complaint, 2026-09-08, @GitHubCopilot (X): “gpt-6 astra in the @githubcopilot app really doesn't work well with inter-session communication, all the sessions where i have tried it somehow get stuck, with messages from child sessions getting queued and never processed in the parent session [link]” [source](https://twitter.com/161137627/status/2097346077242368095)

- Complaint, 2026-10-05, r/google_antigravity (Reddit): “didn't read that. but wanted to add this; i've started using more expert subagents that i set up instead of boost. on boost it tends to keep using boost and multi agents on later prompts that are small, causing a lot of time wasting.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1wo8qye/what_is_your_experience_with_boost_deep_reasoning/pe2rl2f/)

### Pi

- Praise, 2026-10-18, @pidotdev (X): “this /board skill has been working pretty well for me in @badlogicgames's @pidotdev to have multiple models (fable+astra+argon in my case) hash something out: [link] (tell your pi to remix it for your multi-agent setup of choice, ootb it's pi-side-agents.) ### OpenAI Codex

- Praise, 2026-10-15, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app (X): “@pedrophd_ i use the codex app, and the conductor that in the end uses the codex's own harness honestly works very well.” [source](https://twitter.com/3183420959/status/2110738076477583786)
- Praise, 2026-10-14, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app (X): “the codex app is still a masterpiece for agent orchestration. but currently anthropic’s opus 5.5 is more intelligent, fast, albeit less careful. anthropic’s remote control is also much faster. competition is good. excited to see everyone benefit from this.” [source](https://twitter.com/79868827/status/2110227586182000687)
- Complaint, 2026-10-15, r/codex (Reddit): “i got to 15 using 50 astra agents, it really struggles to run swarms like opus does. launched an opus swarm last reset and it created 1000 before it said it hit a limit.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x6e5os/reset_just_landed/pgukp59/)

### Conductor

- Praise, 2026-09-13, @conductor_build (X): “@weswinder subagents can be powerful when the tasks are independent and we can use http request parallelism to speed things up. i noticed @conductor_build doing a decent job at this.” [source](https://twitter.com/1939716924814053376/status/2099015291800031447)

### Zed

- Complaint, 2026-09-01, @zeddotdev (X): “@just_cameron @zeddotdev advertising a multi-agent workflow and then having no way for the agent to spawn subagents is exactly the kind of gap that only shows up once you try to use a tool for real work instead of the demo.” [source](https://twitter.com/46110663/status/2094924957918564697)

### Kiro

- Complaint, 2026-10-02, r/kiroIDE (Reddit): “i didn't properly rtfm and didn't understand that the multi-spawning of the agents would continue beyond the conversation in the ui, i had asked it to investigate a problem, it had reported back, i considered the matter closed - yet - i had a bad feeling. checked in with kiro ide wherein i could more easily see a token status, and it'd burned through 200 on auto in 3h in the meantime.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/kiroIDE/comments/1ww09o0/workflows_are_now_in_kiro_web_ide_12_cli_226/pdh8uaz/)

- Complaint, 2026-09-27, r/CLine (Reddit): “hey, first time post so bear with me if i'm doing something wrong. ill first explain i run a prompt then the model runs okay for a bit then it hits the "waiting for teammates" this isn't a issue but when i click on the sub models that are running no processing or thinking is actually being done the sub model just sits with the prompt and displays "thinking" if anyone has a solution please send” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/CLine/comments/1wrqbkt/waiting_for_teammates_error/)

### Warp

- Praise, 2026-09-12, @warpdotdev (X): “@warpdotdev running more than one agent cli in the same terminal is the bit that saves us time. easy to lose track of which agent touched which repo otherwise.” [source](https://twitter.com/1070947916917825536/status/2098682005764575595)
- Complaint, 2026-09-05, @warpdotdev (X): “@bholmesdev @warpdotdev it does well overseeing simple things and i love the hovering agent bubble inside the terminal. i am talking about complex tasks, spawning sub agents, handover + communication with other agents. i need it as foreman - keeping everyone unstuck” [source](https://twitter.com/8104092/status/2096029908761788572)
