# Which models are offered on a plan and when (`models.catalog_access`)

Feedback Bench, coding agents, built 2026-10-19, window 2026-08-31 to 2026-10-18. Web page: https://feedbackbench.com/coding-agents/#/criterion/models.catalog_access

Area: [Choosing models](https://feedbackbench.com/coding-agents/criteria/models.md)

**Definition.** Whether models are available on the user's plan: same-day support for new releases, deprecations and removals, multi-provider choice, and models missing from a surface.

**Boundary.** Not this: see [Free tier and free model availability and limits](https://feedbackbench.com/coding-agents/criteria/billing.free_tier.md) for free-model availability. Not this: see [Automatic model routing and fallback](https://feedbackbench.com/coding-agents/criteria/models.routing_auto.md) for which model actually runs.

Rated user-weeks, all agents: 3013. Complaint share: 74%.

## The brief

Written by large language models from this page's numbers and the posts it quotes, then checked: every number in the text is in the build. Interpretation, not measurement.

OpenCode is the best at offering the models users want. Users say new models, including stealth models, reach it quickly, and that it offers models other tools hold back. Devin, Factory, GitHub Copilot and Claude Code also rank high. Their users describe one subscription that reaches models from many providers. Model choice is the 12th most rated of 63 criteria, and most ratings of it are complaints. Google Antigravity ranks last, OpenAI Codex 10th and Kiro 9th, and all three rank low. Google Antigravity users write 32% of the category's complaints here, and OpenAI Codex users write 29%.

### What separates the best from the rest

Users of the agents that rank high say a single plan covers models from many providers, and that new and stealth models arrive early. Users of the agents that rank low describe waiting. Google Antigravity users say a flagship model is missing from the paid plan they hold. Kiro and OpenAI Codex users say announced models take days to reach them. Some OpenAI Codex users say a model works on one surface but not on another.

  - OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-12, r/codex (Reddit): “i have the same issue, i think maybe it’s the gradual rollout? i even didn’t have 6.1 ultrafast for 4 days after tibos announcement which was pretty infuriating given it’s $500 a month so i would expect at least access within a couple hours.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1x4a574/why_do_i_never_get_the_new_features_by_default/pfi2mqy/)

## How it breaks

Rule: A separate pass sorts complaints into failure modes. For each criterion with at least 30 complaining user-weeks, a large language model reads 150 complaint posts drawn at random and names 4 to 8 failure modes; a second large language model then puts every complaint post on that criterion in one mode, or in Other when it fits none. Modes are fixed once named, and new posts are sorted into them each week. A mode counts distinct user-weeks with a complaint in it, per agent; across agents, one user-week per agent. Modes do not change the labels or the Feedback Score. Examples: up to 3 posts per mode from different users, chosen and checked as receipts are.

The largest failure mode is a model held back from the user's paid plan while other tiers or regions get it. It accounts for 24% of complaining user-weeks, and Google Antigravity users write 50% of them. Google Antigravity also leads complaints about models removed without warning. OpenAI Codex users write 59% of complaints about a new model that works on one surface but not another. OpenAI Codex also leads complaints about slow rollouts that leave paying users waiting.

2261 complaining user-weeks.

| Failure mode | User-weeks | Posts | Agents (user-weeks) | Definition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Model withheld from user's plan tier | 552 | 588 | Google Antigravity 277, OpenAI Codex 123, Claude Code 50, OpenCode 38, Cursor 33, GitHub Copilot 14, Kiro 8, Amp 3, Devin 3, Cline 2, Pi 1 | A model the user expects is locked out of their paid tier, enterprise license, partner-bundled or regional plan, or reaches them only at lower reasoning settings, while other tiers or regions get it; this excludes rollout delays that hit every plan equally. |
| Staggered rollout leaves paying users waiting | 419 | 437 | OpenAI Codex 184, Google Antigravity 107, OpenCode 59, Kiro 23, Claude Code 15, Cursor 12, Cline 4, GitHub Copilot 4, Factory 3, Amp 2, Conductor 2, Pi 2, Devin 1, Zed 1 | A model has been announced and others already have it, but the user still has no access days or weeks later, with no timeline or explanation, despite updating and reinstalling; this excludes models that are permanently restricted to certain plans. |
| Model removed or deprecated without warning | 378 | 407 | Google Antigravity 184, OpenAI Codex 63, Cursor 55, OpenCode 42, Claude Code 18, GitHub Copilot 10, Kiro 3, Pi 2, Amp 1 | A model the user relied on is removed, replaced or cut from their plan, or a whole provider leaves the tool, which breaks configs and workflows or erases usage history; this excludes models that were never offered. |
| New model missing from one surface | 243 | 258 | OpenAI Codex 144, Google Antigravity 60, OpenCode 19, Cursor 5, Pi 3, Claude Code 2, Cline 2, Factory 2, Kiro 2, Amp 1, Conductor 1, Devin 1, Zed 1 | A newly released model can be used on one surface of the same product (web, CLI, mobile, cloud) but not on another, such as the desktop app or the Linux build, even after the user updates; this excludes cases where the model is missing everywhere because of the user's plan or region. |
| Third-party frontier models absent or outdated | 219 | 230 | Cursor 65, Google Antigravity 63, OpenCode 25, OpenAI Codex 19, Claude Code 15, Kiro 13, Cline 5, GitHub Copilot 4, Factory 3, Zed 3, Devin 2, Amp 1, Pi 1 | The tool's model catalog leaves out current models from other providers, or only offers versions that are generations old, while it pushes its own models; this excludes problems with the vendor's own new releases. |
| Listed model unselectable or returns unavailable | 212 | 221 | OpenAI Codex 77, OpenCode 59, Google Antigravity 29, Cursor 17, Claude Code 11, GitHub Copilot 4, Pi 3, Zed 3, Devin 2, Factory 2, Kiro 2, Amp 1, Cline 1, Conductor 1 | A model appears in the picker or is advertised for the plan, but selecting it fails, returns 'model unavailable' or HTTP 400 errors, or gets silently swapped, which also covers suspicion that a different model is being served; this excludes models missing from the list entirely. |
| Limited multi-provider choice and configuration | 165 | 176 | Cursor 55, OpenCode 29, Google Antigravity 23, OpenAI Codex 23, Claude Code 8, Pi 6, Amp 5, GitHub Copilot 5, Conductor 4, Factory 3, Kiro 2, Devin 1, Zed 1 | The tool does not let users bring other providers or models, hides models the account can reach behind a hardcoded list, or removes per-provider model whitelisting, so users turn to proxies or other harnesses; this excludes complaints about the quality of particular models. |
| Other | 157 | 158 | OpenAI Codex 44, Cursor 35, Google Antigravity 25, Claude Code 20, OpenCode 15, Devin 5, GitHub Copilot 3, Amp 2, Cline 2, Conductor 2, Kiro 2, Factory 1, Zed 1 | Complaints that fit none of the modes above. |

- Google Antigravity, 2026-10-18, r/google_antigravity (Reddit): “when you have literally every model available to you - of course argon would not be so impressive. meanwhile, people were stuck with half baked 3.1 pro preview and flash models. some, including me, still sadly do.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1x8x6nn/dont_worry_too_much_argon_its_genuinely_not_that/phiufdb/)

#### Third-party frontier models absent or outdated

- Cursor, 2026-10-13, r/cursor (Reddit): “i agree. i went with a grok plan for the sole purpose of grokbot and left my cursor ultra. i was thinking of coming back but now, no way. no 3rd party models, not worth it.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1x4or37/cursor_new_plans_and_major_changes/pggwo7y/)
- Cursor, 2026-10-13, r/cursor (Reddit): “and there it goes. my whole use case for cursor was not having to choose one ecosystem and now it's just another single model product, but with a much worse model than the competition. time to start checking out competitors.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1x4or37/cursor_new_plans_and_major_changes/pggda0b/)
- Google Antigravity, 2026-10-11, r/google_antigravity (Reddit): “antigravity will just be gemini flash after 2nd nov, third party models will be gone, i have bundled pro account so i will be only left with flash 3.8 too bad no sonnet opus 5.5.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/google_antigravity/comments/1x33an3/unpopular_opinion_90_of_the_hate_toward_google/pf9z2fu/)

#### Listed model unselectable or returns unavailable

- OpenCode, 2026-10-16, @opencode (X): “@opencode i have both go and zen creds. it still says go subscription needed, log shows 403 . i think this has become like nvidia nim models” [source](https://twitter.com/1077063246513721344/status/2111140545183805447)

- Google Antigravity, 2026-10-16, @antigravity (X): “@salcastt @antigravity that’s what the alleged “try gemini 4” button does (turns on 3.8 “thinking”). argon continues to be unavailable for many ultra subscribers without explanation.” [source](https://twitter.com/2767862064/status/2111091666987995468)

#### Limited multi-provider choice and configuration

- Cursor, 2026-10-18, @cursor_ai (X): “grok 4.7 is very buggy for a frontier model! and with the new subscription model, @cursor_ai has no alternatives now... so sad. i understand that part of the team has had huge product success with @bot, but it's really disappointing that cursor itself is struggling.” [source](https://twitter.com/967976754890657792/status/2111888769683169769)

#### Other

- Cursor, 2026-10-16, r/cursor (Reddit): “yeah but it's pretty useless as all the large models force you to use max mode. so you can normally only use models like haiku, luna, etc” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1x7dos2/final_thoughts_on_cursor/ph6zr5l/)

## Top requests

What users ask to add or change, most asked first. 2421 user-weeks ask for something. Requests do not change the Feedback Score. Rule: A separate pass by a large language model reads every counted post and extracts what the user asks the agent or its vendor to add or change, with the criteria it maps to and a short normalised wording; it does not touch the labels or the Feedback Score. A large language model groups the wordings within each criterion (the first criterion the request maps to) into themes, and a second pass merges themes that ask for the same change under different criteria; a merged theme sits under the criterion most of its requests map to, and code counts it once. A theme counts distinct user-weeks that ask for it, per agent; across agents, one user-week per agent. Themes asked in fewer than 2 user-weeks, and requests that share no theme, are not shown. Examples: up to 3 posts per theme from different users, without slurs: whole posts of 60 to 450 characters with at least 8 words beyond handles and links, posts of at most 280 characters first, then the newest.

### 2. Restore removed models

- Google Antigravity, 2026-10-17, @antigravity (X): “@antigravity bring back 3.1 pro. argon was way too much for some simple task, flash on the other hand was not it for long task” [source](https://twitter.com/941670051060391936/status/2111500033157906638)

### 4. Multi-provider model support

- Google Antigravity, 2026-10-18, @antigravity (X): “@antigravity using only antigravity with gemini it's complicated, we have to use two or three a.i. to get the result..... antigravity it's amazing but again, use sonnet and gpt together” [source](https://twitter.com/1556470074982252547/status/2111786091950874743)

### 5. Cheaper lightweight model option

- Kiro, 2026-10-17, @kirodotdev (X): “@kirodotdev i guess it’s too pricey. i think we need a lower, faster model, like haiku 5.5. or deepseek 4.1 flash” [source](https://twitter.com/192627237/status/2111261218157830550)
- OpenAI Codex, 2026-10-16, X search: OpenAI Codex, Codex CLI, Codex app (X): “6.1 although it's called astra, i hope it has good token efficiency like opus 5.5 and is as capable as 5.6 sol, tibo 🤞 that's astra, and only then will openai regain its top position 💐 #gpt61 #astra #openai #codex #chatgpt [link]” [source](https://twitter.com/1578547063318454272/status/2111136833514217573)
- Cursor, 2026-10-16, @cursor_ai (X): “@cursor_ai we want composer 3 and a cheap model at 0.10/0.50 like haiku 5.5.” [source](https://twitter.com/789888781059035136/status/2111077594284134430)

### 6. Keep older models available

- Google Antigravity, 2026-10-18, @antigravity (X): “@antigravity it would have been better if sonnet 4.6 had remained available on promotional plans even after november 2, offering only 3.8 flash is such a bad decision” [source](https://twitter.com/1292582087426322432/status/2111839388871348707)

## Posts

Receipts rule: Up to 5 praise and 5 complaint posts per area and 3 per criterion. Each is a whole post of 60 to 450 characters (700 for areas) with at least 8 words beyond handles and links, that judges the criterion, whose labels are all praise or all complaint, and that contains no slur. Posts that touch the fewest criteria come first, then posts of at most 280 characters, then the newest. A second large language model reads the first 3 candidates per slot and keeps a post only if it clearly praises, or clearly complains about, the agent on that criterion. Links and personal details removed by the source show as marks such as [link].

### Factory

- Praise, 2026-10-13, @FactoryAI (X): “@chris_petkas @factoryai @matansf they got mistral in plenty early and that's been the biggest ai thing for me in a hot minute. finding issues to fix is the hard part.” [source](https://twitter.com/1923709631265959936/status/2110012163536630108)
- Praise, 2026-10-12, @FactoryAI (X): “@simonasltu1 since 6 sol, i have realised that you have to pick a harness that offers all inference providers, not just one. i switch to @factoryai on the 20th. 6 and 6.1 have made a mess.” [source](https://twitter.com/2092917005506449408/status/2109547077709758834)

### Claude Code

- Complaint, 2026-10-12, @ClaudeDevs (X): “@claudedevs @claudeai please remove the stale models from the list. this is clutter and annoying. no one is using opus 4.8, opus 5, sonnet 5, haiku 4.5...etc. [link]” [source](https://twitter.com/2107514894601908226/status/2109656345179992155)

### Cursor

- Praise, 2026-10-14, r/ClaudeCode (Reddit): “when building our mac app, a second model helps most when the first is stuck on a specific bug, not as a standing multi-agent team. cursor’s model picker gets much of that benefit without paying three times to maintain three versions of the same context.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1x4vdye/multiagent_orchestration_with_claude_pro_google/pgo8yc8/)

- Complaint, 2026-10-18, @cursor_ai (X): “grok 4.7 is very buggy for a frontier model! and with the new subscription model, @cursor_ai has no alternatives now... so sad. i understand that part of the team has had huge product success with @bot, but it's really disappointing that cursor itself is struggling.” [source](https://twitter.com/967976754890657792/status/2111888769683169769)
- Complaint, 2026-10-16, r/cursor (Reddit): “yeah but it's pretty useless as all the large models force you to use max mode. so you can normally only use models like haiku, luna, etc” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/cursor/comments/1x7dos2/final_thoughts_on_cursor/ph6zr5l/)
- Complaint, 2026-10-16, @cursor_ai (X): “@cursor_ai @spacexai i have been on the legacy plan, which is more perfect for me. i upgraded my plan and i realized that i could only access composer and grok models, which isn't suits my work at all.” [source](https://twitter.com/1163109596610928641/status/2111080897373946337)

### Amp

- Praise, 2026-10-12, @AmpCode (X): “i love that @ampcode now supports claude! one request, @thorstenball and @sqs is there any chance that project-based connections is a thing coming soon? (work vs play ai subs based on project settings).” [source](https://twitter.com/1405835361021042691/status/2109653765561504200)

- Complaint, 2026-10-01, @AmpCode (X): “@raor_00 @fprzdev @ampcode currently, they have chatgpt and grok. in my case, i connected grok and it is using that. i would like it to have a connection with claude, but it is still not possible even close.” [source](https://twitter.com/42812549/status/2105692804550660481)
- Complaint, 2026-09-26, @AmpCode (X): “@wendell_adriel i'm in the exact same boat. i haven't used sol at all in the last week after using opus 5.5 for a few tasks. i'm primarily using @ampcode, and i find myself dealing with the experimental external agent feature just for opus.” [source](https://twitter.com/10604/status/2103904355766407327)
- Complaint, 2026-09-23, @AmpCode (X): “we need a strong response with astra 6.1. still playing with opus 5.5. hammering all night didn't move any usage much. not super impressed but it's moving much smarter than gpt 6 sol. biggest pain point is not driving via @ampcode for opus 5.5. - Praise, 2026-10-02, r/PiCodingAgent (Reddit): “on the contrary, i can switch models from gpt, claude, glm as they release new version without having to change my harness. much more confortable than having to change harness to use a different model.” [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/PiCodingAgent/comments/1wvqksf/pi_folks_how_are_you_not_exhausted/pde3dwa/)
